Belle's Hamburger Buns

Reviewed: Jan. 2, 2010
These were pretty tasty buns. A bit dense but then again I'm not a baker and not sure how to knead too well. All in all prety good. Thanks for the recipe.

Johnson Family Cinnamon Rolls

Reviewed: Jan. 2, 2010
For flavor, I think next time I will double the cinnamon sugar mixture seemed a little lacking in flavor and gooeyness but not bad. They were still good. Just need more cinnamon sugar next time for my tastes. Easy and no eggs which is a plus for my family as our son has an egg allergy. Thanks for the recipe.

Frog Cupcakes

Reviewed: Jan. 2, 2010
So cute! Made these for my son's third birthday to bring to preschool. I was worried about the green sugar melting if I made them night before so I decided to bake them and frost them the night before and finish decorating the next morning (which at 5:00am I didn't think was such a great idea....). They were so cute and the kids loved them. I had a few left over and served them the next day and the sugar was still fine. So go ahead and make them the day before. Also, I used icing for the eyes as my son has a peanut allergy and every package of chocolate chips I could find was made in a plant that also processes peanuts... They were still too cute! Thanks for the recipe and idea. Will definitely pass this on to others.

Hot Cheesy Spinach Dip

Reviewed: Dec. 27, 2009
We love this dip! Subbed sour cream for the mayo as there is an egg allergy in my family. Didn't have a "bunch" of baby spinach so I used about 3 huge handfulls of baby spinach from a bag and chopped it up before cooking. Lastly, didn't have mozz cheese so subbed a bag of cheddar. The wine really gave it a special taste, different from all the others I have tried. Thanks so much for the recipe! We loved it!

Turkey a la King Deluxe

Reviewed: Dec. 3, 2009
As far as "a la king" goes this was so good! I used fresh parsley (had some left from Thanksgiving to use up) and added a little extra sherry towards the end. I only had heavy cream but that worked fine. We loved it! Thanks!

Linguine with Spinach and Brie

Reviewed: Dec. 1, 2009
Great idea... Sounds delicious and I really wanted to love it but unfortunately it is really lacking in flavor. I did add some chopped up sundried tomatoes to try to jazz it up a bit but still didn't do the trick. It's not horrible by any means but really needs some flavor. Maybe some basil and parsley? Hmmm. Thanks for the recipe as it has potential.

Oven-Roasted Root Vegetables

Reviewed: Nov. 29, 2009
Matt made these for Thanksgiving. I grumbled and grumbled about doing something that takes so long the day of. Well, I was wrong! It was the most well received veggie dish of the day. Everyone loved them.

Homemade Black Bean Veggie Burgers

Reviewed: Nov. 5, 2009
Used panko as that's all I had. Other than that, I followed everything else. I found tht their was WAY too much cumin for our tastes. We like cumin but this seemed overpowering. I didn't have any trouble with them falling apart. However, I had made them earlier in the day and they sat in the fridge for a few hours before dinner time. Not sure if this helped them stay together or not.

Beef Stroganoff III

Reviewed: Nov. 5, 2009
Very good! Especially liked the tang of the mustard, I used dijon. For the beef I used rib eye as that's what I had on hand. Used fresh sliced mushrooms, regular yellow onion and added a clove of garlic. Other than that followed everything else. Thanks for the recipe. I'll surely use it again. Tasty comfort food and simple to prepare.

Very tasty and simple. I used 1 TBS of butter rather than 3. Still came out great!

Chicken Fajita Seasoning

Reviewed: Nov. 3, 2009
Fantastic! I did not use the cilantro/coriander as I just don't care for it. Also, I sliced up my chicken and marinated it for a few hours in the seasoning mix before dinner. Then when it was time to cook I drained it, cooked up the chicken and then added the rest of the marinade back to the pan. We just loved this! So flavorful. The best fajitas I've ever made. I did use the whole 2 tsp. of cumin. Also, I was skeptical about the worcestershire sauce but ended up loving that addition. Thanks for the recipe! It's a keeper.

Best Lemonade Ever

Reviewed: Nov. 3, 2009
Verygood lemonade! I made this with my 3 yr. old last weekend and he had lots of fun sqeezing all the lemons. I didn't read the directions throughly and did not heat the sugar water mixture. I just mixed it all together and it turned out just fine! Love it. Thanks for the recipe!

Linda's Beef Marinade

Reviewed: Oct. 20, 2009
Good marinade. I used fresh onion and garlic. Also, The only Teriyaki sauce I had on hand was already sweetened. I did not take that into consideration before adding the honey. Next time I will use unsweetened Teriyaki or cut the honey considerably. All in all a good recipe. Cooks error with the sweetness. Thanks

Apple Crisp IV

Reviewed: Oct. 20, 2009
Great Apple Crisp! I cut the flour, sugar and butter down a bit and increased the amount of apples to really fill the pan to the top (didn't measure, just kept adding until full). Next time to make it healthier, I will only make 1/2 the oatmeal mixture and only put it on top. I suppose when I want to splurge or make it for company I'll put it on both the bottom and top but I don't think it really needs it my opinion. Thanks for the recipe. Will make again!

Applesauce Cake IV

Reviewed: Oct. 20, 2009
Very good! I am always looking for sweets recipes without eggs and nuts. I omitted the raisins as I didn't have any and my little guy doesn't like them anyway. Made this as muffins and they turned out great. Most of the cakes I make without eggs turn out so dense but this did not. This turned out moist and fluffy. The only thing I will change next time is to decrease the amount of clove. It was a little too prominant for my taste. Might try subbing WW flour as many reviewers did. Thanks for a great recipe without eggs and nuts! Will make again and again!

Pork Medallions with Balsamic Vinegar and Capers

Reviewed: Oct. 5, 2009
LOVED this sauce!!! Next time though I think I'll just brown the medallions without the flour. Personal preference for texture. Then add a little flour slurry to sauce to thicken it up. All in all a fantastic recipe! Will make a again! Thanks for the recipe!

Smooth Sweet Tea

Reviewed: Sep. 15, 2009
Love the method of making this tea (the pinch of baking powder). Great idea. Way too much sugar for us though. Will make this a lot but I'll keep it unsweetened and let people sweeten themselves. Thanks for the recipe.
