Watermelon and Strawberry Lemonade

Reviewed: Sep. 5, 2011
This isa really good, with a few tweaks. I used 3/4 cup lemon juice which or me totaled about 5 lemons. I also only used 1/4 cup pure cane sugar. I also strained it after blending. Delicious. The lemon flavor came through well and still in the end with my tweaks it was more of a watermelon taste. Very good. Will make again.

Delicious Greens and Ham

Reviewed: Jun. 21, 2011
For such a simple recipe, this is delicious! We had some fresh turnips from the garden and as I was washing them I thought it would be nice to use the greens as well. So glad I did. My only complaint is that the vinegar was a bit much for our tastes but stil good. Would cut that in half next time. Also, I was very tempted to add garlic as other reviewers did just because the recipe looked too simple. I'm glad I resisted. This was great as is. Thanks for the recipe.

Best Spanish Rice

Reviewed: May 17, 2011
This was good. I only made 3 servings and that still made what I would call 5 servings. The flavor is not very strong so it is a perfect side dish for a more falvorful Mexican side dish like Enchiladas or Tacos.

Garlic Cauliflower

Reviewed: May 1, 2011
Easy prep for sure. I too like another reviewer left the galic in the pan and just added the butter mixture. The garlic flavor was a bit overpowering for us though. I will make this again with maybe 1/2 the garlic. Thanks for the recipe.

Mom's Gourmet Grilled Cheese Sandwich

Reviewed: May 1, 2011
Very good. I too mixed the parm with softened butter. It made a delicious crust on the bread. Next time I will add a little garlic to the butter as well and maybe a tomato slice. Good as is though.

Flank Steak Barbecue

Reviewed: May 1, 2011
So good. Marinated about 30 hours just because plans shanged and we didn't cook the steak when we had planned. I did have to make one change because I didn't have green onion on hand. Instead I added minced sweet onion. We will surely make this again. Thanks for the recipe.

Gold Fever Chicken Wing Sauce

Reviewed: Apr. 28, 2011
These were OK. Maybe it was the honey mustard I used (French's) but the mustard really was overpowering. If I made these again I would try a different brand of honey mustard and do a 1/2 1/2 ratio for hot pepper sauce and honey mustard.

Spicy Cheese on Toast

Reviewed: Apr. 22, 2011
This is delicious! I used 1/2 parm regg. and 1/2 sharp cheddar. I'm not a fan of cilantro so I opted for the other herbs listed. The only fresh herb I had on hand was pasley so I used a TBS of that with a 1/2 tsp each dried basil and oregano. For the bread I did not have Chabatta bread so I used 2 sliced of a nice dense farm loaf that came yesterday with our "cheese of the month club". Very delcious, filling and rich. A nice treat! Thanks for the recipe, Don.

Grilled Cheese, Pickle and Vidalia Onion Sandwich

Reviewed: Apr. 18, 2011
Interesting sandwich. The first bite was a bit odd to me but after that it was pretty good! Made exactly as directed. Thanks for the recipe. This is definitely something I would not have thought of. I might make this again for my husband to try as he LOVES pickles.

Broiled Grapefruit

Reviewed: Apr. 18, 2011
This is delicious. I've never had a warm grapefruit before nor have I thought to put cinnamon on. Usually I just cut it in half and sprinle a little sugar on and that's it. Warming it makes it so much more juicy. I don't think you need to scoop everything out unless serving to a child that may not be a able to get all the little segments out with a spoon. I just cut around the segments and left it at that. I will certainly make this again. I really enjoyed the cinnamon on this. Thanks

Lemonade

Reviewed: Apr. 10, 2011
Great easy recipe. My 4 year old just came in the room asking if we had some lemonade. We do not but I made him some from this recipe. Since we only had one lemon on hand I made one serving which is more like two or three for him. I added a little extra water and about a tsp more sugar. The 3/4 lemon that I used was huge and had a ton of juice so maybe that was why it was so tart. Even after the extra water and sugar it was still quite tart but that's how we like it. My 4 year old likes to suck on plain lemon slices so he didn't seem to mind. Thanks for the recipe.

Baked Sweet Potato Sticks

Reviewed: Apr. 8, 2011
These came out quite soggy. I'm not a fan of sweet potatoes so only my husband and 4 year old ate them. My husband said he would prefer them more crispy. I noticed that a lot of reviewers had a similar problem even though trying different oven temps and times. Hmmm, I'll go ask on the buzz. I'm sure some of those fine folks will have some ideas. Thanks for the recipe.

Microwave Popcorn

Reviewed: Apr. 8, 2011
I can't believe it worked!! This is awesome! I was skeptical of just folding the bag over without sealing or securing it somehow but it was just fine. I didn't have any problems cooking it with the bag on it's side. The reasonig I am only giving it four stars is that when I did the 1/2 cup of corn as the recipe specifies, I had at least half the kerels uppopped. I tried it again with just a 1/4 cup and almost all the kernels popped. Also, it works just fine with 1/2 the oil. Thanks for the recipe!!!

Savory Garlic Marinated Steaks

Reviewed: Apr. 2, 2011
We were not fond of this marinade. The ingredient list looks great so I was suprised not to like it. I only used 1/4 cup of the vinegar and there was still too much of a vinegar taste for us. Wasn't fond of the sweetness either. I think I would prefer sweet with chicken rather than beef. I marinated for 24 hours.

Greek Grilled Cheese

Reviewed: Apr. 1, 2011
Wonderful sandwich! I love it! I wasn't sure if the feta would melt well but it melted just fine. I grilled mine more like 7-8 minutes on low heat and everything melted perfectly. Great flavor and mix of ingredients.

Cheesy Bean Nachos

Reviewed: Apr. 1, 2011
This was pretty good especially for how quick and easy it was to make. I did not use Taco Bell brand beans or salsa. Just used whatever brand I had on hand. I was a bit skeptical about cooking these in the microwave but it worked out fine. Dipped in extra salsa and sour cream.

Crispy Oven-Fried Fish Fillets

Reviewed: Mar. 10, 2011
We used flounder for this recipes and cut it into fish stick size portions. The cooking time for ours was perfect. Both my husband and 4 year old enjoyed this. It was my four year old's first time having any kind of fish so we will definitely make this again... Probably as fish sticks again....

Original Chex® Party Mix

Reviewed: Mar. 8, 2011
I did not add the nuts or the bagel chips as I did not have any on hand. Instead I subbed 2 cups of Cheerios. I cut the salt down to 1tsp as well. I made it in the microwave as instructed. In the past I have always baked it for an hour, stirring every 15 minutes. I think there is a deeper flavor with the oven method than with the microwave... This is good for quick and easy but I'll stick to the oven baked version in the future.

Yummy Honey Chicken Kabobs

Reviewed: Mar. 8, 2011
we used this recipe for the marinade only. Added the garlic right to the honey/soy mixture. Marinated 3 BLSL chicken breast halves for 7 hours. Baked in 400 degree oven for 20 minuted, covered. They were fantastic! Very flavorful and moist as well. Thanks for the recipe. I will be using it for kabobs come summer and just as a chicken marinade until then. My four year old liked it and my husband loved it.

Apple Crisp Cups

Reviewed: Mar. 7, 2011
My 4 year old asked me to make these again yesterday which reminded me to review them. These were great! Easy to make too. I had to use brown sugar with the apples instead of white because I was out of white and they were just fine. Other than that I followed the recipe. I only made a half recipe and they were gone by the next afternoon. One thing to mention is don't store them in a tupperware type container covered or they become soggy. Great recipe and such a cute idea!
