Snow Cone Syrup II

Reviewed: Apr. 30, 2005
This is so good!! I will never buy snow cone syrup again. This recipe is simple, fast, and tastes perfect. Plus it's really cheap! My husband LOVES it. So do our 4 kids! This is going to be made weekly in my house!

Authentic Mexican Tortillas

Reviewed: May 16, 2011
I have been looking for a good tortilla recipe for close to 10 years and now I finally have one! These are soft and easy to make. For the water, The hotter the better and it was so simple using my Kitchen Aide. It took less than 5 minutes initially, and then the hour rest time. Rolling them took the most time (I'm hopelessly slow), but even that was only 15 minutes! Oh, and the cost comparison? About fifty cents as opposed to the $2 or $3 at the store!! ~high five~

Marshmallow Brownies

Reviewed: Dec. 22, 2008
These are really yummy! Absolutely delicious and special. I did have an issue with gooeyness, but only in the center. I cut & removed (to our mouths!) the entire outer strip, then put the remaining amount back in the oven for another 15 minutes. A little extra effort, yes, I know. Totally worth it!!

Wedding Cake Icing

Reviewed: Nov. 12, 2011
I bake so often that I often rely on other people's reviews of the things I make to help me determine if I should make things again. My husband's mother and step-mother both said this was the best frosting they'd ever had. That's a good enough reason for me to use this forever.

Graham Crackers

Reviewed: Mar. 23, 2011
So many possibilities with this. There are two problems with this, though. One, the dough might not make it into the oven (c'mon, I can't be the only one that does that!). Two, 12 minutes didn't crisp them enough to make it a "cracker." The taste was so good that I'm willing to make this recipe again-you know, for the sake of research.

Spicy Lamb Patties

Reviewed: Apr. 30, 2008
This was very similarly spiced to a dish at my favorite Indian restaurant. I did up the spice slightly, since so many other reviewers suggested it. I also tried the yogurt sauce, and it was an authentic accompanyment to the lamb. Loved it!

Fresh Lemon Bundt Cake

Reviewed: Mar. 16, 2013
I made this exactly as stated in the recipe (no modifications) and didn't love it. The consistency was that of a pound cake (no problem there) but the flavor was bland. I probably wouldn't make it again unless I did some major changes.

Homemade Vanilla Extract

Reviewed: May 10, 2010
Easy. I used it for the first time today (after the beans had been in the alcohol for about 4 weeks). It smells fabulous and tastes great. I put it in my rice pudding!

Fluffy French Toast

Reviewed: Nov. 4, 2012
This French toast is fantastic! I double the batch, then when everyone in the family has eaten their fill, I put what's left on cooling racks and freeze. After about an hour, I transfer these to a Ziploc freezer bag. They defrost really well in the microwave.

Bar-B-Q Baked Beans

Reviewed: Sep. 14, 2010
At first, I was going to give it a 4 because I baked mine for less time than the recipe says, but it came out dry. I added liquid (water) and stirred it. The taste, however, is delicious and deserves a 5. I've made this kind of beans many times and have never thought to add chili sauce. Knowing to bake for less time than it says, though, is really a plus so I'm rating it a 5!

Indian-Style Butter Chicken (Murgh Makhani)

Reviewed: Oct. 5, 2008
It was pretty good, but not what I thought it was going to be! I was looking for the butter chicken taste from my favorite Indian restaurant. This isn't it, but it IS good.

Lemon Pie I

Reviewed: Mar. 16, 2013
This is so yummy and easy to make. How would it not get five stars?! You could just as easily pass this off as lemon cloud mousse to your family if you didn't want to wait for it to firm up...just throw it in cute bowls instead! If you CAN wait, it's really good once it's been in the freezer all day. It doesn't actually freeze solid and so it is quite easy to slice.

Jerk Seasoning

Reviewed: Nov. 2, 2012
I used this first to spice up some chicken and next for red potatoes. Both were fabulous! This is a really nice versatile blend of spices.

Chicken Jalfrezi

Reviewed: Nov. 2, 2012
Now that I've made this, I breathe a sigh of relief that I doubled it. Possible a cocky move for a recipe I've never made before, but as it turns out, a wise move! It seemed like there was going to be too much spice when I first read through the recipe, but the end result was delicious.

Made this a week ago and my children have been making chocolate milk daily since then. We haven't used it for anything else, but it makes really happy kids at dinnertime!

Raisin Soy Bread

It didn't turn out well at all. The texture was weird, the taste wasn't good. Nobody in my family would ever eat it. Really disappointing.

Vanilla Ice Cream IX

Reviewed: May 5, 2005
Wow, I love this one!! The lemon extract gives this a totally unique, unexpected flavor. It's tasty! If I could give this more than 5 stars, I would. My family renamed it Lemonilla Ice Cream. I'll absolutely be making it again.

Cocoa Rum Balls

Reviewed: Dec. 19, 2012
I used Malibu Rum and kept everything (else) the same. Just finished these, and they already taste good. Can only imagine how delicious they'll be when I give them a couple of days to sit! Also, can only imagine if I had the willpower to sit around a few days waiting for them to get even tastier!
