Chocolate Caramel Candy

Reviewed: Feb. 6, 2007
I enjoyed this. As far as getting the bottom layer up, I found that leaving it out of the fridge at room temp for 20 minutes helped. I also wish the chocolate layers were a bit thicker. The caramel oozed out a lot when left out to serve at my gathering. Maybe next time, I won't use quite as much of the whipping cream, then it will be thicker and hold its shape. Overall, it was good.

Slow Cooker Italian Beef for Sandwiches

Reviewed: Mar. 6, 2006
Oh boy have I stumbled on something. I did substitute more beef broth (2 cups) and added a 2nd seasoning packet of Italian as recommended. When ready to serve, place meat on an open faced piece of bread (hoagie style), then add a few sliced up peppercini's. On top of that, I added swiss on some, provolone on others. Stuck them in a 400 oven for 5-10 minutes to melt the cheese and crisp up the bread. Wow was that a great way to serve these. I used the reserve juice and served it au jus style. Got such good compliments and it dressed it up enough for company at an Oscar party!!

Key Lime Cake III

Reviewed: Jan. 15, 2011
Very good cake, liked by all. I only put 2 Tblsp of the lime juice in the frosting. That was plenty, it didnt need anymore, would have been way to tart.

Strawberry Cake and Frosting I

Reviewed: Mar. 23, 2006
Everyone seemed to enjoy this. Icing was pretty sweet, but still good. I read the authors' notes in the review section and had no trouble with the frosting once I drained the juice into the cake as opposed to putting it in the frosting.

Cranberry Hootycreeks

Reviewed: Aug. 26, 2006
These were very tasty!! I didnt put them in a jar, just made them regularly. For the 5/8 cup, you do 1/2 cup plus a half of a 1/4 measuring cup. I recommend these!

Strawberry Cake Cookies

Reviewed: May 26, 2005
My kids were dying for a strawberry cookie. This site did not have much of a selection. We tried these and the flavor was good, but the appearance - awful. They flattened out like pancakes. After cooling, I put them in a Ziploc bag. They all stuck together, I had to peel them off one another - strange. I added more flour to the end batches and had some success on the appearance.

Peanut Butter Cup Cookies

Reviewed: Jan. 7, 2011
Couldnt be simpler. I too put my Reese cups in the fridge to chill before pressing them into the hot dough. I also doubled the recipe and used my smallest cookie scoop.

Breakfast Casserole III

Reviewed: May 18, 2010
I followed others in cutting the potatoes down to just 3, and that was plenty. In fact, they were the bulk of the preparation and next time I might substitute hash browns. I sauteed the potatoes in half butter/half garlic oil. I also used leeks instead of onions. It was a hit with my clan.

Smooth Strawberry Soup

Reviewed: Mar. 14, 2010
I have been making strawberry soup for more than 10 yrs. This one was great. I found that I like to combine my old one and this one. Instead of the sour cream, use plain yogurt and you wont get a bitter taste. Then reduce the honey to 1/4 cup since you dont need to make up for the bitter sour cream with it. Also use 1 cup apple and 1 cup pinneapple juice.

Cookies and Peppermint Ice Cream Cake

Reviewed: Jun. 30, 2011
I made the crust but added a stick of butter. I also made the fudge sauce, perfect and yummy. Its June and I could not find peppermint ice cream so I had to make my own. Made the one from this site and turned out great. Made for a cancer patient to keep his weight up. During chemo they lose taste, but somehow can taste peppermint!

Cheesy Chicken Pot Pie

Reviewed: May 27, 2011
It was fine and fairly simple. But it lacked any flavor whatsoever. It needs salt/pepper and other seasonings.

Triple Fudge Brownies

Very cakey. Easy enough that my 9 yr old daughter made them alone. she added some crushed oreos and then a can of frosting on top. They were fine but certainly wont be making them again.

Buttermilk Pound Cake II

Reviewed: Jul. 6, 2008
Delicious pound cake. Do not overmix and you have a creamy, soft and flavorful dessert! I added another 1 tsp vanilla and substitued almond for the lemon flavoring and made it in a bundt pan to rave reviews. Used it for strawberry shortcake.

Pineapple Chicken Tenders

Reviewed: Mar. 4, 2006
This was fine. But it would definitly benefit from a longer marinating time. I would also boil down the leftover sauce after you take out the raw meat. Then serve it as a sauce, it would help it a lot!

The Big Sandwich

Fun to make for the Superbowl tonight. Tasty but needing a little something. Maybe some regular mustard, dill pickles or even peppercini's to add some flavor. Liked it though and will make again:)

Basil Pesto Bread Rounds

Taste was fine, good flavor profile, but it did not work well set out at a party as suggested. Once they were cold, they were ignored. Would be good at a meal on soft french bread though.

Slow Cooker Apple Crisp

Reviewed: Sep. 3, 2011
Such a hit! Wonderful. Used 1/2 tsp salt in topping and it was perfect. Also do not like nuts, so added a cup of butterscotch chips instead for the topping. Only used 1/4 tsp ginger per personal taste.
