German Potato Salad

Reviewed: Mar. 15, 2005
Very good and easy to make salad. However, I did not like how sweet it was. Next time I will put in less sugar and more vinegar. Also, it took way longer to cook the potatoes. I boiled mine for almost 30 minutes!

Apple Pie by Grandma Ople

Reviewed: Oct. 12, 2013
OMG so good. I made some changes like others suggested. Added 1 T vanilla, dash of nutmeg, and 1 T cinnamon. You don't need to add corn starch (I made with and without and liked it without better). I only used 6 apples...I don't see how in the world 8 would have fit in the pan unless you have a deep pan. I could eat the whole pie myself and I really never liked apple pie. YOU WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED!

Italian Pasta Salad I

Reviewed: Apr. 15, 2013
OMG this is sooo good and easy to make. This is a good base recipe and you can add a lot of different things to the salad to personalize it. I added pepperoni, cucumbers, and cheddar cheese. I could eat this every night and it was a big hit at our party.

Oven Roasted Teriyaki Chicken

Reviewed: Jan. 23, 2013
This is super good! Like others, I used brown sugar instead of splenda and regular vinegar instead of cider vinegar. Also, cook for about 40-45 min. Finally, if you have skin on your chicken either cover with tin foil or flip the chicken half way through to avoid burning the skin. This was soooooo easy to make and super delicious!

Slow Cooker Beef Stew IV

Reviewed: Oct. 7, 2012
Excellent! I added a few things that some other reviewers suggested. I can of stewed tomatoes, used beef broth instead of water, half a bag of frozen peas, and a dash or Worcester sauce. It is just soooooo good.

Brown Family's Favorite Pumpkin Pie

Reviewed: Nov. 29, 2011
This is the best pumpkin pie ever. I don't change a thing, but I do leave off the topping (just personal preference).

Pasta Pomodoro

Reviewed: Nov. 8, 2011
This was excellent! A whole package of noodles, however, is way too much unless you double the sauce. I wouldn't change a thing otherwise.

Salsa Chicken Rice Casserole

Reviewed: Oct. 12, 2011
Very good. I made a few changes that others have suggested: added chilies, used half the onion (browned it first), added have a pkg of taco seasoning, added 1/2 t chili pepper. This recipe makes A LOT. Next time I would make half. Pretty good though.

Stuffed Peppers My Way

Reviewed: Aug. 9, 2011
Great recipe!! Followed almost exactly except I coated the peppers with olive oil like others suggested and added about 5T of tomato sauce as I thought the mixture was too dry. Excellent!

Oatmeal Pancakes II

Reviewed: Aug. 7, 2011
Excellent! I made them both blended and not. I prefer the blended slightly more. I didn't have buttermilk so I used milk and lemon juice. It is not a breakfast staple in my house.

Asian Lettuce Wraps

Reviewed: Jul. 18, 2011
Excellent! Every body always loves this when I make it. I don't use fresh ginger and I omit the pepper sauce and it is still wonderful! Otherwise you don't need to change a thing.

Janine's Best Banana Bread

Reviewed: Jan. 31, 2011
Pretty good! I added 1 tsp of vanilla like some others did and added a bit of cinnamon too. The top did start to get pretty dark, which I'm not a big fan of. At 45 min I turned the heat down to 325 and moved it down lower in the oven. Next time I might back at a lower temp earlier.

1970's French Strawberry Pie

Reviewed: Oct. 27, 2014
OMG this is so good. Exactly what I was looking for. I only changed one thing and that was to add 1/3 c powered sugar to the cream cheese as someone else suggested. It was perfect with fresh strawberries.

Hash Brown Quiche

Reviewed: Dec. 27, 2010
Great recipe. I have made it several times, with the first following the recipe directly. After following the recipe directly, I decided to use less butter...maybe 4 T. It came out much better. I also use about 1/4 C more ham and I cook the onions before adding them. Also, I find I have to cook the hash browns about 10 min. longer than what the recipe calls for. You can't go wrong with this!

Sensational Sirloin Kabobs

Reviewed: Jun. 21, 2009
Very, very good! The marinade is superb! Based on my family's personal preferences, I would change a few of the ingredients. I added onions and suggest using pearl onions. We also didn't care for the taste of the green peppers. We added bacon on ours which turned out tasty. We also didn't care for the tomatoes. Like others suggested I doubled the marinade and it was plenty. I think making 1 and 1/2 batches would be fine.

Boilermaker Tailgate Chili

Reviewed: Nov. 13, 2014
I loved this. I made a few changes based on what I had in the pantry (i.e. no bacon or celery and used canned diced chilies instead of fresh chili peppers) but it was fantastic. I wasn't sure of the taste alone, but when I served it over noodles with cheddar cheese and sour cream it was amazing. My parents raved that it was the best chili they ever had, better than my step-dad who makes some good chili. Almost as good as Real Chili in Milwaukee, WI. Don't let the long list of ingredients scare you. The hardest part is browning the meat and chopping the peppers/onion. All the rest of the ingredients you dump in.

Grilled Garlic Artichokes

Reviewed: Apr. 27, 2009
Oh were these good!!!! I followed the recipe closely except for using less olive oil-just a personal preference. I found 1/3 cup oil was just enough. There is no need to dip them in any of the leftover olive oil if you do make the whole amount of dip. Flavorful enough. I would suggest that you get the water boiling before trimming and chopping to avoid having to soak the artichokes in water first. These are too good to pass up!

Skillet Pork Chops with Potatoes and Onion

This was soooo good and pretty easy. The only thing I might change is to use less pepper. I thought it was perfect but my husband said a bit too much pepper.

Peanut Butter Noodles

Reviewed: Jun. 19, 2008
This was very good and easy to make. I did make some changes. I used egg noodles since the kind it called for looked gross. I did not use chili paste and instead of fresh ginger and garlic I just used poweder. I was good. I will double the sauce recipe next time and I will add veggies and chicken to it as well.
