German Potato Salad

Reviewed: Mar. 15, 2005
Very good and easy to make salad. However, I did not like how sweet it was. Next time I will put in less sugar and more vinegar. Also, it took way longer to cook the potatoes. I boiled mine for almost 30 minutes!

Skillet Pork Chops with Potatoes and Onion

Reviewed: Jun. 5, 2008
This was soooo good and pretty easy. The only thing I might change is to use less pepper. I thought it was perfect but my husband said a bit too much pepper.

Asian Coconut Rice

Reviewed: Jun. 5, 2008
I didn't think this had much flavor. It took a long time to cook, way longer than the recipe called for. I also added milk because the whole thing was too dry while the rice was still uncooked. My husband thought it tasted good but he added sugar to it after it was done. I think to improve the recipe you would need to add more sugar while cooking, at least a 1 cup of milk and a tablespoon of coconut cream to the coconut milk.

Peanut Butter Noodles

Reviewed: Jun. 19, 2008
This was very good and easy to make. I did make some changes. I used egg noodles since the kind it called for looked gross. I did not use chili paste and instead of fresh ginger and garlic I just used poweder. I was good. I will double the sauce recipe next time and I will add veggies and chicken to it as well.

Tracy's Tomato Artichoke Rice Salad

Reviewed: Aug. 17, 2008
I gave it 4 stars because "as is" it needs a little bit of something. I added pine nuts as others suggested. I also added a dash more lemon juice and a liberal amount of greek seasoning. The seasoning really helped the overall flavor. Also, I used about half of the olives and I would by chopped or halved olives. Whole olives was a bit too much. Overall, it was a big hit at a party.

Coconut Tilapia with Apricot Dipping Sauce

Reviewed: Sep. 24, 2008
Excellent just the way it was! My husband does not usually like fish and he really enjoyed this recipe. It was very tropical tasting with a nice, sweet taste.

Asian Orange Chicken

Reviewed: Sep. 30, 2008
It was really good! There were 2 things I really didn't like about it however. The first was it had a somewhat sour aftertaste. I think next time I will use half as much rice vinegar. I also thought there was too much sauce, but I do not think that I will change the recipe for the sauce. As others suggested, I used less corn starch.

Roasted Vegetables

Reviewed: Dec. 26, 2008
It was good but I think next time I would leave out the squash and the sweet potato. I would then add some carrots. The sweet veggies may it too sweet.

Beef Tenderloin With Roasted Shallots

Reviewed: Dec. 26, 2008
Wow. It was sooooo good. I made one change to the recipe. I used sherry cooking wine instead of port for price and availability reasons. The meat was sooo tender and the sauce was awesome. I will make this one again and again.

Baked Potato Soup

Reviewed: Dec. 26, 2008
Excellent. I didn't add the hot sauce due to personal preference. I don't think I was missing anything by not adding it. But this recipe was a big hit.

Chicken Enchiladas II

Reviewed: Feb. 15, 2009
Excellent!!! I used cream of chicken instead of cream of mushroom soup because my husband will not eat anything with mushrooms and it turned out great. This is a keeper!

Crispy Orange Beef

Reviewed: Feb. 22, 2009
Wow. It is so good. I didn't use fresh ginger but I think next time I will. Also, I didn't use 2 cups of oil for frying. I think that's too much. You just need enough to cover the beef when frying.

Asian Beef with Snow Peas

Reviewed: Apr. 23, 2009
It was pretty good. My husband enjoyed it more than I did. I felt the sauce lacked flavor but my husband thought it was perfect. I recommend that the sauce be doubled, maybe tripled. There was not enough sauce to soak the rice I served with it. But it was a really easy and quick recipe.

Award Winning Soft Chocolate Chip Cookies

Reviewed: Apr. 24, 2009
Very good. Didn't change anything. However, if you are making these for a small group of people, cut the recipe in half. When I cut it in half I still had a ton of cookies.

Grilled Garlic Artichokes

Reviewed: Apr. 27, 2009
Oh were these good!!!! I followed the recipe closely except for using less olive oil-just a personal preference. I found 1/3 cup oil was just enough. There is no need to dip them in any of the leftover olive oil if you do make the whole amount of dip. Flavorful enough. I would suggest that you get the water boiling before trimming and chopping to avoid having to soak the artichokes in water first. These are too good to pass up!

Artichoke Chicken

Reviewed: Apr. 27, 2009
I really didn't like this recipe. I love artichokes and was really looking forward to this. I didn't think the mayo made a good dressing. Next time I would probably marinate the chicken and just add the artichokes in some sort of lemon butter on top of the chicken. The flavor was just not good.

Sensational Sirloin Kabobs

Reviewed: Jun. 21, 2009
Very, very good! The marinade is superb! Based on my family's personal preferences, I would change a few of the ingredients. I added onions and suggest using pearl onions. We also didn't care for the taste of the green peppers. We added bacon on ours which turned out tasty. We also didn't care for the tomatoes. Like others suggested I doubled the marinade and it was plenty. I think making 1 and 1/2 batches would be fine.

Hash Brown Quiche

Reviewed: Dec. 27, 2010
Great recipe. I have made it several times, with the first following the recipe directly. After following the recipe directly, I decided to use less butter...maybe 4 T. It came out much better. I also use about 1/4 C more ham and I cook the onions before adding them. Also, I find I have to cook the hash browns about 10 min. longer than what the recipe calls for. You can't go wrong with this!

Grandma's Corn Pudding

Reviewed: Dec. 27, 2010
This recipe did not turn out well. It had little to no flavor. It was just a big mush. I only gave it 2 stars as a couple of my dinner guests thought it was okay. I would recommend trying a corn pudding recipe that includes corn muffin mix. That is the recipe I meant to use instead of this one.

Janine's Best Banana Bread

Reviewed: Jan. 31, 2011
Pretty good! I added 1 tsp of vanilla like some others did and added a bit of cinnamon too. The top did start to get pretty dark, which I'm not a big fan of. At 45 min I turned the heat down to 325 and moved it down lower in the oven. Next time I might back at a lower temp earlier.
