Garlic Chicken

Reviewed: Apr. 30, 2003
In the words of a better cook than I am, "Oh, yeah, Babe!!" I read the other reviews and used plenty of garlic. I put some Italian seasoning in the bread crumbs. I also pounded the chicken just a bit to soften the tissues. Loved it. Will fix it again. And again. And again.

Potato and Cheese Frittata

Reviewed: Dec. 2, 2009
What a great basic recipe! You start with this and add what you like. For me, it's bacon! I fried bacon to crispy, cooked the frozen hashbrowns in the fat, and when I poured the eggs in topped with the crumbled bacon. Yummm! Would also be good with red bell pepper and/or mushrooms. Must try that. I've made this several times and like it more each time. Thamks

Garlic Green Beans

Reviewed: Nov. 10, 2002
Oh yeah! This is great. We served it with lasagne, and didn't add the cheese. With something less cheesy, the cheese would be great. We gobbled it right down. Wow. The house smelled of cooking garlic and made everyone really hungry. We'll have it again, yes we will!

Lemon Pepper Green Beans

Reviewed: Oct. 20, 2004
Yumm. I really like this dish. It's easy to make and adds zest to any meal. Yet not so much zest that my husband who doesn't care for spicy food won't eat it. I lessen the amount of lemon-pepper some, because I can always add more.

Apple Pie Bread

Reviewed: Apr. 1, 2002
I'm sorry about all the people who had bad luck with this recipe. I thought it was wonderful! My Mom said it was like the "old-fashioned" bread her mother made. The texture was fine, the flavor was great, and it was gone in no time. I did have to add about a TBL more of bread flour, but that's the only problem I had. I have another batch making as I write this, and I will make it again.

Honey Glazed Ham

Reviewed: Apr. 1, 2002
Wow! This is the best ham I ever cooked! We turned the oven down during church, and didn't baste during that time, but it worked. I had to substitute for the corn syrup--my father is allergic to corn, so used maple (real maple) syrup instead. Wonderful! I'll do it again!

Very Berry Cheesecake

Reviewed: Aug. 1, 2005
I love this cheesecake. I use a frozen berry blend (strawberries, blueberries, red raspberries, and blackberries), buying two bags. I thaw them, put one in the dessert, following the recipe, and mix the other with sugar for topping. Mmmmm.

Slow Cooker Beef Stroganoff I

Reviewed: Aug. 18, 2005
This is yummy. No, it's not dinner party fare, but it's perfect for a good family meal. My Mom has dentures and needs soft, chewable meat, and this is it! My picky husband eats seconds. I could just binge on the gravy. A few thoughts. I found the original recipe a bit thin, so I doubled the meat and thickened it a bit. I recommend thickening with corn starch rather than flour, because flour dims the sharp flavor. I also served it over mashed potatoes the second time and my husband liked it better than with noodles. Mmmm. I'll serve this again, and soon.

Chicken Cashew Salad

Reviewed: Aug. 3, 2003
Yes! I just took this to a community brunch and got compliments galore, and several requests for the recipe. It tastes great. It looks a little bland, because there is no bright color, so maybe the red onion would be a good idea, but other than that I wouldn't change a thing. Thanks, Mary.

Home-Style Potatoes

Reviewed: May 24, 2007
I really like this dish, and my picky husband does too. I'll definitely make it again. I think it needs some garlic, so I'll try some next time. And there will be a next time. Oh, yeah, Babe!

Soy Garlic Steak

Reviewed: Jun. 21, 2007
Oooh, yeah, Babe! Thank you Grace! Easy marinade to make, easy to work with, and Yummm. Husband likes less garlic than I, so I make it with less, still good. Used Chuck eye. Melt in your mouth is right. It's a keeper!

Butterfly Honey Pork Fillets

Reviewed: Aug. 18, 2000
This was so quick and easy to fix; just put in the fridge and turn every now and then; then broil 15-20 min on the grill. I got raves from everyone at the table.

Carrot Cheesecake with Crumb Crust

Reviewed: Mar. 11, 2002
This is a wonderful dessert! It's a rich color, and the flavor is delightful. A welcome change from the more common fruit-topped cheesecakes.

Foolproof Rib Roast

Reviewed: Dec. 25, 2008
Oooh yeah, Babe! This was the best prime rib I've ever had--and this was the first time I ever made it. Pat, my son-in-law (Pat's mushroom saute), said the same thing. I used the spices as a rub, using a little rosemary, wrapped it in plastic wrap overnight, and fixed it today for dinner. I moistened it a bit with evoo and used the beef broth when I turned the oven back on so I would have some jus for dipping. It was sooo good. We'll have sandwiches for supper.

English Muffin Bread

Reviewed: Apr. 23, 2002
I cut this recipe in half and made it in my bread machine. I added about 1 and 1/2 tablespoon of butter. It's great. Tastes good as bread and toasts beautifully. The texture is good and the taste is great. I did have to add a little more water as it mixed, but each bread machine is different.

Awesome and Easy Creamy Corn Casserole

Reviewed: Jul. 11, 2003
This is yummy! I did as one review suggested and used a little less butter, but it seemed a bit dry, so will go with the full 1/2 cup. I also added 1/4 cup shredded co-jack. My husband said, "No cheese!" My daughter said, "Yes, cheese!" I will make it again. Thanks, Ruthie!

Mandarin Almond Salad

Reviewed: Aug. 2, 2006
I liked this salad, except that I have a digestive problem with fresh onion--and this disagreed with me. The dressing was wonderful, and I really liked the addition of the sugared almonds. I will make it again, but touch it up with onion salt instead of raw onion.

Lemon Pepper Dill Fish

Reviewed: Jun. 23, 2007
I tend to agree that fish is best breaded and fried, but with diabetes and high cholesterol that isn't usually an option. I read the reviews, paid attention, and put this in the oven at 375 for 15-20 minutes. Picky Husband had a second helping. My only complaint, too much butter. Next time I will use less.

Maple Teriyaki Salmon Barbeque

Reviewed: Jun. 25, 2007
This was good. I like the combination of maple and salmon very much. I used my g.f.grill which is new, and cooked it a hair too long. But the flavors came through well. I'll fix it again.

Creamy Chicken Casserole

Reviewed: Jun. 21, 2009
This is pretty good! I tried it because it is so simple. I made it exactly as the recipe said; it was a bit dry and needed salt. Next time I added a can of cream of celery soup and it was great! My Mom liked it and my picky husband did too. I asked him what it needed and he said, "Nothing!" Great stuff. Thanks
