Basic Crepes

Reviewed: Feb. 28, 2014
This is the first crepe recipe I have tried and I was not impressed. It tasted eggy and I had to add more milk and water to get it to the proper consistency. I had crepes from the street vendors in Paris and that is what I was looking to make. This recipe was nothing like that.

Pork Chops with Raspberry Sauce

Reviewed: Feb. 11, 2013
Made this tonight because I had chops in the freezer and some extra raspberry purée to use up. Loved it!! Husband ate two chops. The only thing I did differently was to brown the chops in the pan and then finish in the oven because they were bone in and thick. Would have never guessed this would be so yum. Added a TBS of butter to the sauce.

Chicken and Broccoli Braid

Reviewed: Jan. 28, 2012
This was good. I cooked the chicken in a skillet, then added the onion, then dumped those two things in a bowl, sauteed the pepper and then sauteed the broccoli a bit. I left out the almonds and skipped the egg white. It was still golden on the top.

Slow-Cooked Country Ribs in Gravy

Reviewed: Jan. 10, 2012
Yum - I loved this recipe. I cooked it about twice as long as what was recommended. I accidentally forgot the bouillon cube but it still turned out great. When I boiled the sauce on the stove after the meat was done, I added a few squirts of Trader Joe's BBQ sauce.

Love this dip. Made it for my Christmas party and it was a hit...so I'm making it to two other Christmas parties I'm going to this weekend. I serve mine with celery and pita chips.

Peanut Butter Cup Cookies

Reviewed: Dec. 5, 2011
Made the recipe as written, with two exceptions. I was out of milk so I used half and half with a bit of water. I don't have mini muffin tins so i scooped them with my cookie scoop on a sheet pan. Worked great! Will make again.

Dill, Feta and Garlic Cream Cheese Spread

Reviewed: Oct. 31, 2011
I made this for a work potluck. Rave reviews. I used dry dill, minced garlic from the jar, and added about 1/2 cup of sour cream because it was very stiff to stir with just the cream cheese.

Ashley's African Peanut Soup

Reviewed: Oct. 25, 2011
I loved this recipe. I order African Peanut Stew at one of my favorite restaurants about once a month. This recipe was just as good! I didn't add the rice to mine because I don't need the extra carbs and I also didn't add sweet potato because I forgot to buy them at the store. Oh, I also skipped browning the chicken and vegetables because after 10 hours in the crock pot, I knew everything would cook down and meld together. I loved the combination of spices. EDIT: I made this recipe again last night. I had some random veggies in the fridge I wanted to use up (celery, broccoli, zucchini) so I chopped them up and threw them in. Also, I made with water instead of stock because I didn't have any. ALSO, I found out at the last minute we were out of peanut butter so we added almond butter--I think it turned out just as good!

Dutch Apple Pie with Oatmeal Streusel

Reviewed: Oct. 2, 2011
I made this pie yesterday--it turned out great. I followed the recipe exactly except I didn't have allspice and I didn't add lemon zest. Didn't miss either ingredient because the pie turned out great. I made a homemade pie crust.

Microwave Oven Peanut Brittle

Reviewed: Dec. 28, 2008
I needed two attempts to make this--the first time I did not cook the cornstarch mixture long enough. The second attempt turned out well, but it was not the best tasting brittle I've had.

Best Chocolate Chip Cookies

Reviewed: Dec. 28, 2008
I made these as the recipe stated--no changes. I still prefer to the recipe on the Nestle chocolate chip package.

Double Chocolate Biscotti

Reviewed: Dec. 9, 2007
This was my first time making biscotti--and they turned out great. I did make one mistake--I cooked the loaves on seperate trays, one on the top rack and one on the bottom rack. The loaf on the bottom rack burned a bit on the bottom. I was able to fix it by just scraping the bottom of the loaf with a sharp knife. Lesson learned!

Big Soft Ginger Cookies

Reviewed: Dec. 3, 2007
I made these cookies last night with my mom. It was my first time making them and they are my first bactch of christmas cookies for the year. These cookies are great! I followed the recipe exactly and I wouldn't change a thing. These cookies are soft and spicy--the perfect, easy Christmas cookie. I know I will be making these for years to come, Tip: Use a cookie scoop if you find the dough a bit soft--no refrigeration required. Also--these took 11 min. in my electric oven.

Sausage Corn Chowder

My boyfriend's mom gave me the same recipe from this WI restaurant...the soup is great. I use sage-flavored sausage and double the recipe...it freezes very well.

Mandarin Orange Cake I

Reviewed: Feb. 5, 2007
This was the first cake I've ever made (besides making the box cake per instructions on back of box with a can of frosting) and it was great! Very easy to make. My mom, who usually is not a fan of cake, loved it, and everyone in my family went back for seconds. I plan on making it again to bring to family events this summer.

Cabbage Roll Casserole

Reviewed: Jan. 11, 2007
This is definitely one of my favorite recipes on this site! My mom started making it several years ago, and now I make it now that I have my own apartment. I don't have a huge casserole dish so I had to split mine between to 9x13 pans. Make sure you cook it long enough so that it's not watery (had to call mom on that one and make sure I didn't mess it up! it just needed extra time in the oven.). If you like things a little spicy and vinegary, I suggest serving it with some Frank's Red Hot sauce!

Chicken Tortilla Soup V

Reviewed: Jan. 11, 2007
This is a great soup recipe, if you prefer broth based tortilla soups (as I do). It tastes very similar to the soup served at one of my favorite cafes. I doubled my recipe and used lime juice instead of lemon. Because I do not like the taste of most jarred salsas, I used 2 cans of diced tomatoes with chili pepppers. Yikes! I should have tasted them before I added them because they were super spicy! To compensate, I added extra water and let it cook a little longer. Still turned out fantastic!

Ann's Sister's Meatloaf Recipe

Reviewed: Mar. 11, 2005
This is my favorite meatloaf recipe. My mom always used to make her own (dry, onion, bad) meatloaf until she found this recipe. Now I make it too. The only thing I change is adding a couple extra strips of bacon to the top...who doesn't LOVE bacon? This meatloaf is moist and delicious.

Best Spinach Dip Ever

Reviewed: Mar. 11, 2005
This spinach dip is awesome! My boyfriend uses this recipe when it's his day to bring a snack at work...and everyone raves about it. I also recommend throwing in the whole thing of spinach.
