I am part Ukrainian and part British. Born in Canada. I love to bake and cook. My goals are to learn the traditional Ukrainian foods as well as healthy low cholesterol foods. Cooking for a lot of people is a pleasure to me not a chore.
My favorite things to cook
Perogies from scratch, Cabbage Rolls, Cabbage Soup, Breaded Beef Liver and Onions, Pies of any sort, Seasonal and Everyday Cookies, Fancy and Everyday Cakes, almost anything new :)
My favorite family cooking traditions
Christmas Cookies, Apple and Pumpkin Pie, Pumpkin Pie without the traditional dough crust, Cherry and/or Blueberry Tarts, Peanut Clusters, Sugar Cookies, Spritz Cookies, Shortbread.
My cooking triumphs
Over many years I have obtained the best balance between dough and filling in my perogies.
I have developed a new flavoured cookie that is very nutritional and satisfying for people of all ages.
I love to adapt recipes to accommodate dietary and allergic needs.
My cooking tragedies
To date I have not been very successful with cooking seafood. I just can't seem to get the proper spicing to achieve the best flavour (not including fillets of white fish).
