I have made this pie several times, but it has been awhile since I made it last. Until tonight. I followed some of the others suggestions. I added vanilla 1 tablespoon, 1/2 tsp of nutmeg and I made a mistake and added 1 tablespoon of cinnamon instead of 1 tsp. But I went ahead and tried it. I also added 3 tablespoons of cornstarch. I didn't add flour because I forgot until it was to late to add it. I then poured a little over half of the sauce over the apples (used 5 granny smith). Covered with the top crust. I just cut some holes in the top crust. I poured the remaining sauce over the crust and spread it a little with a brush. I baked it at 350 for one hour. Let it cool to just slightly warm. It wasn't runny and held together nicely. I will add a little more sugar next time though....the apples were a little tart, but I love granny smith so it doesn't bother me. Maybe I'll toss the apples with some sugar next time to add a little more sweetness. But all around good pie. Thanks for the recipe and suggestions.
