Creamy Shrimp Linguine

Reviewed: Jul. 11, 2011
Great great flavour though I used only garlic (a lot more) as I do not have onions. I also sauteed the garlic with some bacon. And followed the rest of the recipe. It's my first time with cream sauce so I'm ecstatic it turned out so well. Cheeses melted nicely. I separated the pasta and sauce and let the guests help themselves since they are coming in at different time. Served it to a company of 10 and received so many compliments and best of all, it's a really easy dish. Thanks!

Apple Crisp III

Reviewed: Jul. 11, 2011
What an easy easy recipe. I was too lazy to roll out an apple pie crust from scratch so decided to search for an easy apple dessert. No regrets! I followed the recipe and added a dash of nutmeg to my apples. Used 5 gala and 1 granny smith. Also a dash of vanilla to the crust. It was a winner. I made it the night before and quickly warmed it in the oven for about 15 min just before serving with a scoop of vanilla ice-cream to a company of ten. The crust was crisp and apples so soft. YUM. Changes? I would cut the water to 1/4 cup or less cos I drained out some water right after baking as it was bubbling over. It thickened nicely overnight though. Got rave reviews for this. Must try.

Reviewed: Jan. 10, 2011
Really yummy. And so easy, this is a keeper. i sprinkled cookie crumbs on one batch, sea salt on another and a combo of crumbs and salt on a third batch. All were well-received and tasted like gourmet truffles...if only they knew.. : ) Thanks!

Scones

Reviewed: Aug. 20, 2010
yum yum! much better than the store bought ones. I can never find a good one. Mine turned out so light, moist and with great taste. I used salted butter and still keep to the amount of salt recipe called for. It was great, I love it...the sweetness and hint of saltiness. Everything I was looking for. Except I was worried when the dough turned out a little too wet. I hardly kneaded(but I guess that's the trick for scones-not to overknead). Definitely a keeper. Thanks.

Veronica's Apple Pancakes

Reviewed: May 25, 2010
Made as per recipe except that I cubed the apple into tiny bits instead of shredding it. Used 1 apple. Real good. Pancakes turned out moist and fluff. Great for b'fast. I will definitely make this again.

Banana Banana Bread

Reviewed: May 9, 2007
Oh this IS delicious! I only managed 1 1/3cup of mashed bananas..din have enough, so i added an additional egg. Subsituted 1/2cup wholewheat flour and a generous sprinkle of wheatgerm for a healthier option. Lastly added pecans on top. And it is still gooodd...yum!

Beef Bourguignon III

Reviewed: Oct. 8, 2006
This is DELICIOUS! Use good red wine..think it's essential to bring out the flavour of the dish. Needed more broth during simmering, so I added about a cup additional. I reduced the beef to about 600g as I was only serving for 2, but otherwise followed the other measurements. I also substituted with 250g Shitake mushrooms as I couldn't get buttons. I did not serve it as a garnish but instead added the onions and mushrooms during the last 30min of simmering(to make it a healthier option). I loved the extra flavour Shitake added to the dish, though I think it may be a little overpowering for non-Shitake fans. Next time, i'll experiment with both buttons and shitake. Overall, i really liked it. My home smell so heavenly the whole day. Will definitely make again. Thanks!

Honey Wheat Bread I

Reviewed: Oct. 6, 2006
Nice Nice Nice! I've tried my hand at baking so many breads, but this turned out the best. I especially loved the butter brush at the end. It gave my loaves a slight salty crisp. I stuck to the recipe, otherwise using low fat evaporated milk, wholemeal flour, olive oil and instant yeast. So did skipped the proofing step altogether. Dough was a little sticky and had to work extra bread flour when kneading..that's the messy part. But other than that, I'm really happy with the turn out. Yum!

Blueberry Coffee Cake I

Reviewed: Dec. 23, 2005
Followed the advice: halved the streusel topping, increased milk to 3/4, decreased sugar to 2/3 cup (don't llike it too sweet), added 2 eggs instead of 1, increased blueberries to 1.5 cup. Still thought the batter was a bit dry. But it turn out alrite. It's not dry nor is it buttery moist. I thought it's just nice but don't seem to keep well cos by next day, it was getting hard.

Sue's Oatmeal Macadamia Nut Cookies

Reviewed: Dec. 13, 2005
Maybe it's personal preference. I enjoy macadamia but when put with oatmeal cookies, was a bit too much for me. Was little too sweet too. Would cut sugar by 1/4 each next time.

Oatmeal Raisin Cookies I

Reviewed: Nov. 26, 2005
I halved the recipe, used less than a quarter brown sugar (ran out of it), around a quarter white sugar and increased raisins to 3/4 cup, used instant oats (that's the only one I have at home). And it turned out just sweet enough. Follow the baking time if you prefer your cookies soft and chewy. I left mine in the oven for until brown as my husband likes his cookies harder. Overall, a really nice & easy recipe. Will be making it again. : )

Daniel's Favorite Cheesecake

Reviewed: Apr. 13, 2005
Passed on presentation, but texture's really bad. It looks good enough to eat but once it's in the mouth, it's rubbery. Yes..that's the word my husband used and what I thought too. Won't try this again.

Fabulous Homemade Bread

Very nice. I made by hand and used only strong wholemeal flour and added slightly less water to prevent sticky dough.Turned out crispy outside and soft inside. Kneading time is about 8 min.

Best Ever Cinnamon Buns

Nice texture and flavour. But needed a lot of extra flour to work the dough. I halved the recipe, made 18 medium rolls. Freezed half and baked the other half. Would increase cinnamon in future.

Clone of a Cinnabon

Reviewed: Jan. 21, 2005
Awesome! I half the recipe, used all purpose flour-sifted, and made by hand-no bread machine. Baked it for a shorter time around 20 min cos it browns fast.Yields 8 very fluffy and delicious rolls even without the frosting! My husband loves it! Thanks.

Light Wheat Rolls

I baked it whole, did not divide it into individual servings and also did not wait for it to rise third time. But it turned out yummy for me. My husband prefers fluffier bread though.
