Slow-Cooker Pepper Steak

Reviewed: Feb. 20, 2009
This is so delicious! I used low-sodium soy sauce, eye of round steaks (I left these whole), and served over instant brown rice. My kids and mom really enjoyed this. I've made it several times, it's a favorite.

Sloppy Joes II

I used about half of the brown sugar called for. This was excellent, even without the green peppers, which I really enjoy!

Awesome Slow Cooker Pot Roast

I used one can cream of celery instead of the mushroom soup. This was, indeed, awesome!

Asparagus Parmesan

Oops! I forgot to mention previously that I felt 1/4 c. olive oil would be way too much, so I just used 1 T. olive oil with the 1 T. butter. Yum!

Sesame Pork Tenderloin

Reviewed: Apr. 12, 2009
This was okay. I realled liked the marinade but failed to follow directions and only marinated for an hour. I did half the mix of honey and brown sugar. Next time we have pork tenderloin, I will marinate for at least 4 hours.

Key West Chicken

Reviewed: Apr. 17, 2009
This was pretty good. I used a little less soy sauce, but the exact amount of everything else. I was hoping for more lime flavor. Next time I will add more lime. The chicken was very tender and moist. My kids really liked this. I cooked it on the George Forman.

Perfect Baked Potato

Reviewed: May 30, 2009
Looks Good. I haven’t tried this yet, but I wanted to make a couple of comments. First, for the reviewer who couldn’t believe her eyes about how hard it is to bake a potato: I was never shown how to bake a potato, I learned from trial and many errors. Interesting that you have only one review on this site. For the reviewer who talked about the same results in the microwave, I’ve never had good results with the microwave. Maybe the many microwave brands/manufacturers/styles differ, I’ve never had good luck with “baking” a potato in the microwave. If you can’t say something positive or more constructive, don’t waste a spot with your negativity. I’m going to try this recipe and will let you know the results.

Black Bean and Corn Salad II

Reviewed: Jun. 1, 2009
I thought the amount of olive oil was too much. I then used half the amount called for, also no cilantro (I don't care for it) and no red pepper. Other than that, I followed the recipe and got many compliments, even from an ex-husband who said he didn't like it but ate quite a lot of it. I will make this again. Thank you for this recipe!

Golden Potato Soup

Reviewed: Jul. 9, 2009
I doubled this recipe. We ate 3 servings and we might have enough for 5 more. I used broccoli instead of the celery and onion, and added a little more milk and water. It was pretty good, I would make it again.

This is a delicious hot meal, period. Whether you call it chili or soup doesn't matter. It is a very versatile dish, or great as is.

Bar-B-Que Sauce

Reviewed: Oct. 16, 2009
I made this exactly as the recipe stated. This was great. I even had to dip a few crackers into this sauce because it was so good. I cooked chicken legs and a couple of breasts in the oven for about 1/2 hour, then covered with this sauce, baked about 20 minutes more, turned the meat over and covered again. I am a child care provider and the kids really enjoyed this. I will make this again. The dash of hot pepper sauce added a yummy dimension to this sauce, no one said it was spicy. Good recipe. (by the way, I did not cook it on the stove, I made it up ahead of time and used it when I needed it).

Cheeseburger Soup I

Reviewed: Oct. 16, 2009
This was yummy, except I did not include carrots, celery, basil and parsley - I don't associate these with cheeseburgers. I did add more potato, since alot of times, cheeseburgers are eaten with fries, or jojo's. I also did not use chicken broth - I think it's wierd to have chicken broth with beef; I used water instead. This was delicious, I love green onions, so I had a bowl of chopped green onions for those who wanted to add to their own bowl. I will be making this again. Good with wheat crackers or 100% whole wheat toast.

It's Chili by George!!

Reviewed: Oct. 18, 2009
I halved the recipe and changed the following: Added more juice, no sauce. I used 3 cans of kidney beans and forgot the green pepper (which was disappointing, I love green pepper). This was pretty tasty. We didn't add cheese or sour cream. Just ate with wheat crackers. This is almost exactly like Flatlander Chili by the same person.

Apple Pie by Grandma Ople

Reviewed: Nov. 19, 2009
This was a wonderful pie. When it says to use 8 Granny Smith apples, I shoud have used 8. I used 5 and it was already mounded more than slightly, so after baking, the apples had shrunk and there was a space between the filling and the crust. But it was still yummy! We did toss in some cinnamon and did not do the lattice top; short on time. Cut some vent holes in the top crust and it was just fine. Yummy!

Refried Beans Without the Refry

Reviewed: Dec. 7, 2009
These are excellent! I doubt I will buy canned again. I did not have jalapeno, so added a couple dashes of Tabasco. Used 7 cups of water and one 8 oz. can tomato sauce, only one tesaspoon salt and 1/4 teaspoon cumin. When they were done, I did not have to strain the beans, just mashed and they were a great consistency. I used a lot of spoons, because as it was cooling, I had to keep tasting it, with a sprinkle of salt each time. I doubt I will use all of these for tomorrow's lunch, so I am going to freeze the rest and see how that turns out for a later meal. Thank you for this recipe.
