Sweet Dinner Rolls

Reviewed: Mar. 7, 2011
I don't have a bread machine either, so I basically followed the directions of summer_lover (the 2nd Most Helpful review) AND baked at 375 for 15 min. I did put in 2 c. of whole wheat flour and then only needed about 1 1/4 c. white flour. Did not make into crescents. After rolling into balls, I let rise another 30 min. I have not baked yeast bread/rolls in over 20 years and these turned out WONDERFUL!

Cucumber Sandwich

Reviewed: Dec. 29, 2010
We marinated the cuke slices in Paul Newman's viniagrette. Didn't have lettuce or pepperoncini. Sliced the avocado. Lightly toasted our 100% whole wheat bread. Talk about a delicious veggie sandwich! My 18 year old and 12 year old really liked this, as did I.

Best Brownies

Reviewed: Oct. 17, 2010
These were okay. Maybe we overmixed them, because they sunk in the middle and at 30 minutes with a toothpick test, they didn't seem done, so we left in the oven another 5-10 minutes (we made two separate batches).

Zucchini Patties

Reviewed: Sep. 27, 2010
I followed the recipe except I didn't add onion because of the kids, but I did add finely chopped red pepper. It was okay, served with pizza sauce (that's what I had on hand). Next time, I will add the onion and maybe add more salt than I did the first time.

Easy Batter Fruit Cobbler

Reviewed: Jul. 26, 2010
This was delicious. Based on one of the reviews, I also used 3 T butter instead of 4. Also did not use the full T of sugar to sprinkle on top. Next time I think I will use a little less than the 3/4 c. sugar, as this cobbler was a little too sweet for me, but I still enjoyed it, especially warm with vanilla ice cream.

Ranch Dressing II

Reviewed: Jun. 2, 2010
Delicious! This is the only ranch that will be in our house from now. I halved the recipe, just in case. Didn't have sour cream, so I subbed 1/3 c. buttermilk. Also instead of 1/4 t. dried parsley, I only used 1/8 t. Thank you.

Taco Seasoning I

Reviewed: May 3, 2010
This is an excellent recipe -- you can adjust it to your liking or indredients on hand. I don't normally have sea salt, so I use regular salt, but use 1/2 of the amount of what is called for with the sea salt. Also use 1/2 of the black pepper. I also have added a dash or so of sugar. Just try this - lots of room for experimenting.

Tasty Lentil Tacos

Reviewed: Mar. 9, 2010
I ate three of these myself. Picky kids I know: one ate two of them, I was shocked! Another ate a whole one which was totally unexpected. My own two children each had two and fought over the last one, deciding one to eat half and give the sibling the other half. Make this, you will not regret it. The only thing I found was that I needed to add additional water once in a while, my pan wanted to cook hot, even though I turned it down low. Enjoy!

Buttermilk Pancakes II

Followed recipes exactly. Excellent! My girls enjoyed these. I froze the leftover pancakes in a few bags with wax paper between each pancake. They'll make a quick breakfast for us. Thank you.

Refried Beans Without the Refry

Reviewed: Dec. 7, 2009
These are excellent! I doubt I will buy canned again. I did not have jalapeno, so added a couple dashes of Tabasco. Used 7 cups of water and one 8 oz. can tomato sauce, only one tesaspoon salt and 1/4 teaspoon cumin. When they were done, I did not have to strain the beans, just mashed and they were a great consistency. I used a lot of spoons, because as it was cooling, I had to keep tasting it, with a sprinkle of salt each time. I doubt I will use all of these for tomorrow's lunch, so I am going to freeze the rest and see how that turns out for a later meal. Thank you for this recipe.

Apple Pie by Grandma Ople

Reviewed: Nov. 19, 2009
This was a wonderful pie. When it says to use 8 Granny Smith apples, I shoud have used 8. I used 5 and it was already mounded more than slightly, so after baking, the apples had shrunk and there was a space between the filling and the crust. But it was still yummy! We did toss in some cinnamon and did not do the lattice top; short on time. Cut some vent holes in the top crust and it was just fine. Yummy!

It's Chili by George!!

Reviewed: Oct. 18, 2009
I halved the recipe and changed the following: Added more juice, no sauce. I used 3 cans of kidney beans and forgot the green pepper (which was disappointing, I love green pepper). This was pretty tasty. We didn't add cheese or sour cream. Just ate with wheat crackers. This is almost exactly like Flatlander Chili by the same person.

Cheeseburger Soup I

Reviewed: Oct. 16, 2009
This was yummy, except I did not include carrots, celery, basil and parsley - I don't associate these with cheeseburgers. I did add more potato, since alot of times, cheeseburgers are eaten with fries, or jojo's. I also did not use chicken broth - I think it's wierd to have chicken broth with beef; I used water instead. This was delicious, I love green onions, so I had a bowl of chopped green onions for those who wanted to add to their own bowl. I will be making this again. Good with wheat crackers or 100% whole wheat toast.

Bar-B-Que Sauce

Reviewed: Oct. 16, 2009
I made this exactly as the recipe stated. This was great. I even had to dip a few crackers into this sauce because it was so good. I cooked chicken legs and a couple of breasts in the oven for about 1/2 hour, then covered with this sauce, baked about 20 minutes more, turned the meat over and covered again. I am a child care provider and the kids really enjoyed this. I will make this again. The dash of hot pepper sauce added a yummy dimension to this sauce, no one said it was spicy. Good recipe. (by the way, I did not cook it on the stove, I made it up ahead of time and used it when I needed it).
