Grandmother's Oatmeal Cookies

Reviewed: Jan. 8, 2005
The BEST oatmeal cookies I've ever made. All other attempts have yielded hockey pucks, but these are awesome & easy. I used 3/4 c real butter & 1/4 c shortening, and used a very generous cup of raisins. A huge hit w/my family.

Tasty Orange Chops

Reviewed: Aug. 16, 2005
Really delicious. I did not include the rosemary b/c we were out - but I don't think the recipe suffered. My husband & 4 year old loved it - and my 4 year old doesn't love ANYTHING. Will definitely make again.

Chicken Makhani (Indian Butter Chicken)

Reviewed: Aug. 16, 2005
Great dish. My husband is Indian, but his family is vegetarian so I have to find good chicken recipes on my own. We both really enjoyed this. I added garbanzo beans, too.

Broccoli and Sausage Cavatelli

Reviewed: Aug. 21, 2005
This recipe is a great starting-off point. I too was worried that it would be dry, so I added 2 cans of diced tomatoes w/onions & garlic. I still used the red pepper flakes & broccoli, and I used bulk sausage (I couldn't tell if the original recipe used bulk or not). My husband & I really loved it.

Chicken a la Charlie

Reviewed: Aug. 28, 2005
Really nothing special. I think the ingredients together had potential, but the dish would be better done on the stove top. Next time I'll brown the chicken, add the wine, then sautee the onions / mushrooms along with it. I'd add the soup / sour cream mixture afterwords and let it simmer until the chicken is cooked through.

Beezie's Black Bean Soup

Reviewed: Oct. 10, 2005
Great flavor, but I wholeheartedly agree that the bean cooking instructions were WAY off. I soaked my beans overnight, THEN boiled them for 30 minutes -- and they were still a tad underdone. Make sure your beans are done to your liking first then move forward.

Pumpkin Apple Streusel Muffins

Reviewed: Nov. 6, 2005
Fantastic! I used the strusel recipe suggested by another reviewer, but they would probably be amazing w/o it. The batter is very thick - so don't worry. The apples keep it moist.

Spicy Orange Beef

Reviewed: Jan. 9, 2006
Very tasty. I used red wine (no sherry available), and sugar free marmalade, so mine wasn't very sweet -- but delicious.

Beth's Spicy Oatmeal Raisin Cookies

Reviewed: Feb. 21, 2006
Absolutely Fabulous! I doubled the spices - b/c I always do - and they were terrific! I also used 1/2 whole wheat flour and 1/2 all purpose (just trying to make things healthier). Really, really great.

Very easy and very, very yummy. I followed the recipe as written - except I had no green onions and went slightly spicy.

Coconut Oatmeal Cookies II

Reviewed: Aug. 15, 2006
a good, perfectly respectable cookie, but nothing amazing. not worth the amount of fat between the butter & coconut in my opinion. it makes FAR more than 2 dozen (unless you make huge cookies). I doubled, intending to give some to new neighbors, and still have some for family -- and wish I hadn't. I'm over 8 dozen and still going.

Fabulous Wet Burritos

Reviewed: Sep. 3, 2006
really delicious. my husband LOVED these. I was able to sneak in some 'healthier' things that normally would get pushed aside. i used spinach instead of lettuce, whole wheat tortillas, and 92% lean ground beef. I added some of the sauce directly to the bean/beef mixture b/c mine was slightly dry (due to lean ground beef?). I baked in casserole dish as other reviewers did.

Best Chocolate Chip Cookies

Reviewed: Oct. 9, 2006
Good, quite yummy, but so are the ones from the back of the tollhouse bag ... and I don't see a big difference. FYI - the 24 serving size is a TAD bit misleading. It made 90 cookies.
