Chocolate Cobbler

Reviewed: Jul. 28, 2008
If you had problems with the consistency, pour the hot water on the top VERY slowly, I mean, pretend you are a sloth or a turtle with arthritis if you have to. If its driving you nuts to pour that slowly.. then ya may have it right.

Chocolate Icing

Reviewed: Feb. 19, 2007
I made a cake from scratch and then polked holes in the cake so the hot icing would drip down into the still hot from the oven cake. I then topped it with some tart cherries I mixed with sugar and cornstarch. It was absolutely awesome served warm.

Cake Mixes from Scratch and Variations

Reviewed: Feb. 19, 2007
The first time I..mean umm.."somebody" made this cake it did NOT rise at all. Some idiot wasn't paying attention and used cornstarch instead of baking powder. The second cake was wonderful seeing as how the same idiot paid a bit more attention. On a different note.. I just submitted a formula to the 3M corporation for a durable rubber floor mat....

Bev's Chocolate Pie

Reviewed: Feb. 17, 2007
A little too much of a dark chocolate taste for me but it was still easy to make and the texture was good. I'll ease up on the cocoa powder next time for my own preferences. I didn't start to heat it up until everything was in it but the butter, so it took about 50 minutes to firm up in my oven. When I saw it was going to take a while to firm I wrapped the crust in aluminum foil to it wouldnt burn. I chilled it overnight and it it was very firm. Easing up on the cocoa powder is my only change if you aren't a fan of dark chocolate. The process works great.

Pineapple Upside-Down Cake VII

Reviewed: Feb. 14, 2007
I made two of these for Valentines Day, one for my Dad, one for my Sister. My mom used to make them for us years ago. It was exactly like hers. It was wonderful and moist, especially because I used the wrong measuring cup and put in a 1/2 cup of oil instead of 1/3 like the cake box said. It took about 45 minutes at 350 degrees in my 12 inch Cast Iron Skillet. Great Recipe, Thanks! *Added on 2-17-07 my Dad and my sister said it was perfect. My sisters co-workers want the recipe. It was kind of hard for her not to share since I took it up to her workplace.

Easy Apple Cinnamon Muffins

Reviewed: Jan. 11, 2007
Good stuff! Like the other reviewers said, don't fill the muffin pan up to the top or you'll get a mess. I just stuck a large baking pan under the muffin pan and didn't worry about it. I added about 1/4th cup of whole grain cereal crushed up. I think this would be ok made in a cake pan too with a powdered sugar glaze drizzled over it. Thanks Mindy!

Stephen's Chocolate Chip Cookies

I added two tablespoons of Cocoa powder to the recipe because my family is made up of chocolate freaks. I thought they were great.. but I didnt try them without it yet so I have nothing to compare it to. Anyone tried them both ways?

Homesteader Cornbread

was more "cakelike" than the cornbread I am used to. Guess I should have known that before I made it. Oh well, no harm, no foul!

Honey Baked Chicken II

Reviewed: Apr. 19, 2006
I made this tonight for the first time. I thought the overall taste was great but it wasnt spicy enough for me. I think cutting down on the butter is a good idea if you are using pieces with the bone and skin. I really enjoyed it anyway but will experiment with it for my own personal preferences. Thanks!

Banana Pudding I

Reviewed: Mar. 8, 2006
I doubled the recipe and omitted the egg whites. I used 12 egg yolks and whipped them with the sugar and flour. Made it a bit more expensive but man it was worth it! I used bananas that were turning a bit brown in order to get more banana flavor. This was the best banana pudding Ive ever had.

Delicious Rosemary Bread

Reviewed: Jan. 28, 2006
This is Excellent bread and smells awesome while baking and afterwards. I doubled the recipe and made four loaves. I took it to work and heated up a few pieces in the microwave. My co-workers sniffed their way to my office within seconds and devoured all 4 loaves. Got tons of compliments and astonished looks when I told them I made it by hand. I also got flirted with when the single girls saw I took the time to bake. So double thanks for the recipe! Now Pardon me while I go find some chocolate recipes to take to work..Heck, maybe I'll get a date! EDIT* Its been 7 months since I first made and reviewed this bread, Im up At 3am making this bread because ive got my days and nights turned around and I had to have something to do! This is STILL awesome bread!

Sage Pork Chops

Reviewed: Jan. 28, 2006
These were really really good. The 3rd time I made them, I used 1 tsp salt instead of two, 1 tsp of sage PER chop (i like sage, can ya tell?) beef broth, 4 whole cloves of fresh garlic and I cut up 1 medium yellow onion. I took other users advice and thickend it up with 3 tbs corn starch and 3 tbs cold water. Came out awesome! Thanks! Edit* After going back after several months and reading reviews after I made this one, I would recommend timing your cooking to the thickness of the chops. It seems the thinner ones will dry out and you might need to cut back on the frying/cooking time, Just a suggestion!

Shepherd's Pie V

Reviewed: Jan. 28, 2006
This was really good except for me stupidly tipping the pan of mashed potatoes a little too far so it all relased at once.. so we had a mashed potato Castle with a meat & gravy moat. The castle ended up being stormed and defeated so its all good!

J.P.'s Big Daddy Biscuits

Reviewed: May 29, 2005
I have made these 20 or 30 times and always were good. Tonight I added 1/2 teaspoon of crushed dried rosemary, 3/4 teaspoon grated parmesian and 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder. I brushed them with melted butter before and directly after baking. Served with pasta or seafood would be fantastic. Thanks for the recipe!

I tasted it before I layered it and it wasn't spicy enough for me.. but then what I think is mild will burn other peoples mouths off. I added about 3 jalapenos and it was just right.. Thanks!
