Chef John's Chicken Tikka Masala

Reviewed: Apr. 12, 2015
This dish was just ok in my humble opion... I wasn't bad at all, it just wasn't anything to rave over. Normally, any dish Chef John makes he could throw on the floor and I'd still eat it.( Like I know him) But on this dish, I think I would pass.

Cabbage Fat-Burning Soup

Reviewed: Apr. 9, 2015
This soup is delicious!!! It does make a little over 2gallons of soup if you follow this recipe to the letter. So not to be wasteful I would cut the ingredients by half, especially if you are the only one eating the soup.

Slow Cooker Salisbury Steak

OMG my family raved about this recipe!!!! It was so good and so simple to make. Thank you so much Tesslynn for sharing this recipe. My father was licking the plate after I brought it to him and he was almost upset when it was all gone. I added fresh diced onion pieces in with the gravy it was a big hit!!!

Chef John's Shrimp Etouffee

Reviewed: Jan. 7, 2015
This recipe came out so well and it was so easy!!! It was spicy but not to hot, flavorful, and I dont think the picture does this meal justice. Chef John you have outdone yourself once again. Also a time saver with all the chopping that would have needed to be done I had a bag of flavor mix that can be purchased frozen and pre-chopped and it seemed to do just as well as purchasing the onions, bell peppers and green onions individually and chopping them myself. Just a time saver.

Golden Rum Cake

Reviewed: Dec. 25, 2014
This came out delicious my family raved about this Christmas dessert and we are not drinking people, but the rum brought out all the flavors so well in the cake. The only thing I did a little differently is rather than take the cake out of the bunt pan to glaze it I left it in poured the butter rum sauce in and allowed it to soak. My toughest critics loved it !!!

Chef John's Macaroni and Cheese

Reviewed: Dec. 7, 2014
This is a very good recipe for mac and cheese. The one I make is very similar the only difference is I do not use the cayenne or worstershire sauce or thyme. Substitute those ingredients with powdered mustard, seasoning salt, pepper. a handful of finely chopped fresh onion and sour cream gives it great flavor and makes it creamier. I have not tried the panko crumbs yet but I will make that my goal the next time prepare this dish .

Oxtails with Gravy

Reviewed: Sep. 8, 2014
A bit greasy, but otherwise delicious!!!1 You may want to strain grease off of them twice rather than once like the recipe suggests. There will still be plenty of oil left to add flour for gravy.

Janet's Rich Banana Bread

Reviewed: Sep. 8, 2014
It came out very well!! This is a simple recipe and the great thing about it the only thing I didn't have on hand were the walnuts. It didn't require a bunch of ingredients that you wouldn't find in the kitchen at any given time, I love recipes that require very few trips to the market.

Awesome and Easy Creamy Corn Casserole

Reviewed: Aug. 18, 2014
This was so simple, quick and good!!! I added sharp cheddar cheese to this recipe and my honey loved it. My family ate the pan in one night and there are only 4 of us. This makes a good substitute for normal starches you serve like potatoes, rice, or mac and cheese. I don't think even the most novice cook could mess this one up. I will put this one in heavy rotation of meal planning.
