Chiliville Chili

Reviewed: Oct. 5, 2013
This was good. I made two changes. I substituted fresh diced bell peppers instead of using diced tomatoes with bell peppers added. Also I let my chili simmer in the crock pot on low for about 5 hours, adding the beans after 3 hours, before serving. My only critique would be that during preparation it needs salt added. But that is personal preference.

Easy Pumpkin Cinnamon Chip Muffins

very easy to make. very moist. very tasty. big hit with the family. my husband took them to work and the other police officers loved them too. our 12 yr old son says they are better than cupcakes!

Chocolate Bar Pie I

Reviewed: Jan. 3, 2008
made this using a combo of dove milk chocolate squares and semi-sweet choc chips (to cut back on the sweetness others talked about). omitted the nuts since my family doesn't care for them in pies. topped it with cool whip and it was a HUGE hit! the graham cracker crust gave it a nice texture balance. i'll definitely be making this again!

i had to substitute butter for the shortening and they ended up dry and crumbly.

Herb Rubbed Sirloin Tip Roast

Reviewed: Dec. 10, 2007
even though our 2 boys didn't like this, my husband and i did so i'm still giving it 4 stars. it was easy to make and very flavorful. i think next time i'll omit the cayenne pepper to make it more kid friendly. but it's great just the way it is if you aren't trying to appease picky little ones!

Pumpkin Chocolate Chip Cookies III

Reviewed: Nov. 23, 2007
these were so much better than i expected. my 7yo son helped make the batter and kept saying how gross the pumpkin smelled. but once they came out of the oven and he tried them he said he couldn't understand how a cookie with that 'nasty pumpkin' in it could taste so great! i did add a 1/2 tsp of nutmeg to mine. the first batch i made using white choc/semi-sweet choc swirled chips. (that batch is my favorite) the second batch i used just semi-sweet choc chips. passed them out in the neighborhood and they were a huge hit! even got requests for the recipe!

Plantation

Reviewed: Sep. 25, 2007
this was good, just a little plain. but i think that's what made it a hit with my kids. it kind of tasted like hamburger helper beef stroganoff, only better. :)

Three Cheese Noodle Bake

Reviewed: Sep. 23, 2007
not super, but not awful either. it just didn't have much going on. even my kids kept complaining that it didn't have any flavor (and believe me, they don't normally like anything above middle of the road when it comes to seasonings). we ended up adding a lot of additional salt and that still didn't do much for it. i did substitute ricotta chz for the cottage chz and half the shredded chz was a colby/pepper jack blend. but mine came out kind of on the dry side. maybe some velveeta would help it out some...

Bikini Martini

Reviewed: Sep. 15, 2007
this isn't just a 'girl's drink' at all! my husband (a Marine) loved it too! we added a little less vodka and a little more coconut rum because it seemed a little strong (even for my friend who drinks more often than i do). i think we may use another reviewer's idea of flavored vodka next time just to change things up. but it's really great as is.

Aileen's Punch

Reviewed: Sep. 15, 2007
very tasty! i had to use white grape peach juice in place of the apricot nectar since i couldn't find any at the superwalmart. it got great reviews at our labor day cookout from both kids and adults. will definitely make again! thanks aileen!

Swiss Cheese Scramble

Reviewed: Mar. 7, 2006
we are very disappointed with this recipe. i wanted to use up some swiss cheese i had on hand and thought this would be a nice change for a dinner. first, it took much, much longer to prepare than stated and i even had my husband helping me. second, it called for too much cheese. maybe half the amount and change the type to mozzarella and it would be better? third, the bread crumbs on top made for a strange texture. all in all, it was edible. and i'm very disappointed since the ingredients aren't exactly cheap. all the 5 star ratings were very misleading on this one.

Lemon Stuffed Chicken

Reviewed: Mar. 4, 2006
this was ok. the flavor was a little too light for us. maybe with some lemon pepper or some garlic it would be better.

such a great recipe! i marinated the chicken for about 3hrs prior to grilling. the flavor was light and tangy and the chicken was moist. kids loved it too so this will be a regular in our house.

Banana Pudding Sugar Cookies

Reviewed: Mar. 1, 2006
these were really great! my entire family (including two picky boys) loved them. in fact, as soon as my 12yo took a bite he said, "you need to make these more often!" definitely use a stand mixer when making these cookies, and 2 1/4 C. flour is enough. they tasted just like a lighter version of banana pudding. and they were so yummy warm just out of the oven! i can't wait to experiment with other flavors!

Amish Yumazuti

good, easy & a kid pleaser. the only changes i make are adding seasoning salt to the beef while it's cooking and i don't layer. i mix it all together then cook and it comes out fine. (much easier that way!)

Oven Brown Rice

Reviewed: Feb. 17, 2006
made some changes: added celery, onion, carrots, used low sodium broth and garlic powder instead of garlic salt. did not have a problem with it being too salty. i covered it after the first 30 minutes and it took about 1.5 hrs to finish cooking.

My Country Style Steak

Reviewed: Feb. 17, 2006
this was a pretty good recipe. didn't read the instructions well so i didn't cut up the beef into bite sized pieces. will definitely do that next time as the meat kept sticking to the pan (non-stick pan at that!)making the coating come off. i did have to add additional water over the course of cooking it. but still, very good!
