Salade Lyonnaise

Reviewed: Apr. 25, 2014
I've made this as is and it's a good salad. After reading other reviews I used I swapped fresh spinach for the romaine lettuce and green onion instead of a regular onion. It's just a personal preference thing. The dressing is amazing, tangy and savory! I'm still working on poaching eggs, I'm terrible at it! Mine comes out like a boiled over easy egg, ugly, but still tastes the same. I love cutting the egg open over the salad and letting the warm yolk ooze out mixing with the dressing.

Asian Avocado

Reviewed: Apr. 25, 2014
Such a great alternative to eating avocado, adding sesame seed to it takes it to another level. Glad I read the reviews, adding the sesame really does taste similar to sushi rolls. Low sodium soy sauce helps cut the saltiness, ginger powder and garlic powder works if you don't have the fresh stuff. I love this recipe, I make it from time to time, usually when I get bored with guacamole.

Shrimp and Grits Louisiana Style

Reviewed: Apr. 25, 2014
This is amazing shrimp and grits. It really hits the spot when craving some low country food. I made a few changes...I used Canadian bacon instead of the ham, Green onion and no green pepper. I added smoked gouda cheese (maybe 1/2 a cup) to the grits and a little chicken stock. I also added a sprinkle or two of white pepper. I took it to work for a coworker to try and her eyes rolled back in pleasure, lol.

Baked Teriyaki Chicken

Reviewed: Apr. 25, 2014
So much flavor, and so tender! This recipe filled the void when I was craving Hawaiian food. I found a recipe for the Hawaiian pasta salad (also on this website) that paired perfectly with the chicken.

Salmon with Lemon and Dill

Reviewed: Apr. 25, 2014
Delish! I added a white wine bath and cooked it in a pyrex dish. I also eliminated the butter.

Potato Arugula Salad

Reviewed: Apr. 25, 2014
Big hit! I had left over arugula and didn't feel like eating a typical salad. The only changes I made was using apple cider vinegar instead of the white and I squeezed half a lemon in it. I added fresh grated parmesan to it too. I will make this again, maybe for a summer potluck.

Rustic Tomato Basil Tart

Reviewed: Apr. 25, 2014
Great recipe! But I did tweak it. After reading other reviews, I decided to leave out the balsamic and use a Blackberry drizzle (recipe I found on food network). It was left over from a ham we ate on Easter.I thought it would be similar because it has balsamic vinegar in it. It added a sweet heat to the savory tart. I also added three slices of chopped Canadian bacon for protein, this added smokiness that went nicely with the other toppings. This tart is an interesting option for using up fresh basil and tomatoes when one's tired of caprese salad. I can only give it four stars because I haven't tried the recipe as is. I will def make it again.
