Chocolate Eclair Dessert

Reviewed: Aug. 16, 2005
A very quick and easy casual dessert. If you want thicker layers like the picture shown use a smaller pan. This is great for the busy mom, thanks.

Alysia's Basic Meat Lasagna

Reviewed: Aug. 15, 2005
The best lasagne I have ever had. A tip from my nana use 1 lb of beef and 1/2 lb of ground pork it's an old family secret. Another change to save time and dishes saute the onion and garlic then add the meat to that pan and cook together, it makes less dishes and infuses the flavour. I added a little salt and hot sauce to the mixture.

Aunt Rachel's Cheese Souffle

Reviewed: Aug. 14, 2005
I soaked the bread overnight and after 45 minutes of baking it was soggy bread, so I turned the oven up to 425 and baked for 20 more minutes and still soggy bread. To top that off there was an inch of grease on the bottom of the pan

Hummus III

Reviewed: Aug. 14, 2005
This is really good, easy, excellent texture and flavour. My only reccomendation is that it be made ahead of time as it takes a while for the garlic flavour to really set in. I also added a hint of cayenne to give it a little kick. This is a great recipe.

Bacon Ranch Pea Salad

Reviewed: Aug. 11, 2005
This was wonderful, really easy and liked by all. It gets better with time. I put it on a bed of lettuce. I used mayo mixed with salt, pepper, a dash of vinegar and sugar and fresh chives.

Chocolate Peanut Butter Squares

Reviewed: Aug. 10, 2005
While I am clearly the minority here, I thought this was like eating a stick of butter, way too rich way too sweet. Too bad I was looking forward to this.

Homemade Vanilla Pudding

Reviewed: Aug. 10, 2005
This was very easy to make, I followed another reviewer's idea and mixed the ingredients together before I heated it and it was smooth. My big problem was the flavour it tasted gross to me, I'm not sure if this is the way homemade vanilla pudding should taste but I much prefer instant vanilla pudding. I threw it away.

Angel Food Cake III

Reviewed: Aug. 8, 2005
The taste of this cake was heavenly and it was suprisingly easy to make. The only reason I gave it 4 stars rather than 5 is that I couldn't get it out of the pan. This is probably my fault if anyone knows what I did wrong or a secret technique please share I would like to make this again.

Argentine Lentil Stew

Reviewed: Aug. 6, 2005
Although I was intrigued by the different flavours, the flavour created was a mixture of weird and bland. I also think there were too many lentils this stew was very thick. I don't hate it but I will not make this again, sorry.

Apple Crisp

Reviewed: Aug. 6, 2005
Very healthy, good tasting as a healthy snack, my toddler loves it. Next time I will try and make it more moist by adding some apple sauce.

Andalusian Gazpacho

Reviewed: Aug. 5, 2005
Although this was easy I ended up throwing out all the leftovers. I think using fresh tomatoes rather than canned juice will make a big difference. I would reccomend trying a recipe with fresh ingredients before this one.

Amish Macaroni Salad

Reviewed: Aug. 3, 2005
This was very generic tasting, like any salad you could get from your supermarket. When I first made the dressing it tasted wonderful but after sitting it tasted so boring and generic this has possibility but needs more spice maybe some cayenne a little less sugar more dill it needs more va va va voom.

Crispy Cucumbers and Tomatoes in Dill Dressing

Reviewed: Aug. 2, 2005
This was good and easy, I used balsamic vinegar which was a little overpowering so I will try with white or cider next time, this was really good and easy.

Baked Whole Cauliflower

Reviewed: Aug. 2, 2005
This needs a bit of work but has great potential. The crust tastes wonderful but there needs to be a way to inject flabour and moisture into the cauliflower itself. The presentation is great but next time I will break it up and see if that works better. I doubled the crust recipe and that is a must.

Strawberry Trifle

Reviewed: Aug. 2, 2005
I have made this twice already. It is so yummy and easy and quick and beautiful and flavourful. WOW this is one of the best recipes I have ever made. I used fresh strawberries. Next time I will add another package of pudding as the rich creamy flavour is a great contrast to the cool whip. If I have extra time it would be worth it to make homemade whip cream. Thanks again to a new family fabourite recipe.

Garlic Rosemary Mashed Potatoes

Reviewed: Aug. 2, 2005
I don't think I will try these again but if I do I would add more garlic, more butter and more cream. And as was mentioned before mincing the heck out of the rosemary is key, I used dried rosemary and it was like little needles scratching my mouth.

Grandmother's Oatmeal Cookies

Very easy to make. Moist delicious and chewy. For me, however, this is not THE ONE. I want a more oaty flavour this tasted a little generic, primarily like a sugar cookie, I will keep searching

Amish Slaw

Reviewed: Jul. 12, 2005
Too sugary for me. Way too sweet and way too many calorie for salad. I will try again with about 1/2 the sugar if not less.

Mini Cheesecakes I

Reviewed: Jul. 1, 2005
These were so amazing, they looked great and tasted even better. I did a few changes, cooked in a hot water bath, I added a 1/4 cup of butter to the wafers which turned out great. I topped the cupcakes with a sourcream sauce (1/2 cup sour cream 2 tbsp sugar and 1 tsp vanilla) it served as a nice contrast a well as a base for the fresh fruit I put on top. These were super easy and really great
