Very Chocolate Ice Cream

Reviewed: Aug. 12, 2012
I just made this today and it's fantastic! It's definitely the best homemade ice cream that I've made. In fact, we're supposed to serve it tonight for dessert with friends and my husband wants me to keep it all for us. I'm making back-up brownies to serve to our guests now. :-) I followed the directions exactly except that rather than refrigerating for 2 hours, I put in the freezer for about an hour because I was short on time. I used plain old, Nestle mini chocolate chips because that's what I had on hand and it turned out great. I can't wait to try again with better quality dark chocolate.

Red Chard and Caramelized Onions

Reviewed: Jan. 3, 2012
I tried this last night and thought it was horrible. I really do love wilted greens and cook them in many ways, but wanted to find a new way to cook them and thought this sounding interesting. Unfortunately, it was just weird. I used a rather large bunch of chard, and I found that this was way too sweet. I didn't have any olives, but otherwise followed the recipe exactly as written. Maybe the saltiness of the olives would have helped a bit, but I'm not sure. I won't make this again.

Sweet Potato Bread

Reviewed: Nov. 27, 2011
This turned out fantastic. I did make a few changes including using orange juice as recommended by another review because I didn't have any orange zest on hand. I also used leftover sweet potato casserole that had a base of sweet potatoes, bananas and honey, so I cut the sugar by half and it was perfect...not to sweet, not too bland. I'll definitely make this again and follow the recipe to see the difference, but my guess is that it will be just as tasty.

Shredded Brussels Sprouts

Reviewed: Nov. 22, 2011
Yum! I'm just sampling from the pot as they are cooking, and I can already tell that they're fantastic! The only change I made was to use walnuts instead of pine nuts because that's what I had on hand but left everything else the same. So far I've only been able to get my husband to eat brussels sprouts if they are roasted and slightly charred, so I'm anxious to see what he thinks of these. I guess I'll know in about a half hour when he gets home. :-) Thanks for posting!

Baked Kale Chips

Reviewed: Mar. 14, 2011
Wow...who knew? Mine were a bit too salty so I may have had a smaller bunch but other than that they were great. I used garlic and chili infused olive oil to give a little spice and since I only have stone bakeware they didn't crisp as much as I would have likedb ut the taste was still really good. I may have to go out and buy a different baking sheet just for this recipe.

Fresh Broccoli Salad

Reviewed: Feb. 7, 2010
Yum! I omitted the raisins because my husband doesn't like them and used slightly less sugar and slightly more white wine vinegar. I also used turkey bacon crumbles and light mayo and it turned out great. The dressing is going to be my new go-to coleslaw recipe.

Chicken Breasts with Balsamic Vinegar and Garlic

Reviewed: Nov. 18, 2009
This is SO good! I needed something to do last minute with some chicken and it was fantastic. I didn't have any mushrooms, but will definitely do this again and throw them in. I also has really thick chicken breasts so I had to cook them a bit longer. Otherwise I followed the recipe exactly as written.

Egg Noodles

Reviewed: Nov. 13, 2009
I just made these and they were awesome! I used about 1/2 of the noodles to make homemade chicken noodle soup and took the rest to and used it for butternut squash ravioli. Both turned out really great. Will definitely keep this recipe handy!

J.P.'s Big Daddy Biscuits

Reviewed: Nov. 8, 2009
I just made these and had to immediately review. I was worried because the dough seemed a bit stickier than what I had expected, but they turned out absolutely delicious! After backing I drizzled them with a little melted butter mixed with honey and we ate them just like that. They were fantastic!

Easy Apple Cinnamon Muffins

Reviewed: Nov. 3, 2009
I made these tonight and was disappointed that most of my topping fell off the muffins even after waiting for them to cool. The muffins tasted okay, but would have been better with the topping. Sadly, it was all over the counter instead of ON the muffins.

Curried Cauliflower

Reviewed: Oct. 4, 2008
I thought this was just okay. It sauce was pretty bland so I'm glad I tried it before mixing it with the cauliflower. After I added some cumin and ground coriander it was much better. I also cut the sauce ingredients in half because I wanted to just coat the cauliflower and serve with chicken saagwala.

Quick and Easy Pizza Crust

Reviewed: Aug. 9, 2008
I made this tonight for three different pizzas and every one turned out fantastic! The first was simple pepperoni & cheese for the kids and it was completely gone. I also made this as a deep dish pizza in a stoneware pie baker with the "exquisite pizza sauce" from this site and it was my favorite. Last I made a chicken, spinach and gorgonzola white pizza that was also completely eaten. Like others recommended I baked the crust for a few minutes without the toppings (the deep dish for 10 minutes, the others for 7.) I made two batches of the dough and it made all three pizzas.

I made this tonight and got rave reviews. I used the "quick and simple" pizza dough recipe from this site and did a deep dish pepperoni & mushroom pizza that everyone loved. Thanks for the great, simple recipe!

Mushroom Blue Cheese Turkey Burgers

Reviewed: Jun. 9, 2008
These were fabulous! I added a bit more blue cheese and then served them on rolls with a tiny amount of mayo and some hot wing sauce...SO yummy! I cooked them on a flat pancake griddle that covers two burners so I was able to make all four patties in one batch. Quick and delicious! Thanks so much!

Garlic Butter

Reviewed: Aug. 24, 2007
I spread this on fresh corn on the cob and threw them on the grill and it was fantastic. We also put a small amount inside our burger patties and it was also awesome (not the healthiest meal but darn good!)

Chili I

Reviewed: Jan. 1, 2005
I've been making this chili for years, and it's always a huge hit. I made it exactly as written the first time and, like others, thought it was a bit too sweet. I now cut the sugar in half and add some smoked paprika. So good!
