Am shocked by all the positive reviews. These are way too salty!!!!!!!!!!

Zuppa Toscana

Reviewed: Dec. 23, 2010
Yum! Completely agree with the other helpful reviews. Just needs a little bit of tweaking. It's a bit too much cream (and I love cream) as compared to the restaraunt version so I'll cut it a bit next time. Definitely use Kale instead of spinach. The restaurant actually uses escarole so if you can find it then all the better! Fennel if you like it would also make it more authentic...the sausage I used had a little but not enough. (Since I don't really care for fennel I didn't add any extra.)

Blooming Onion and Dipping Sauce

Reviewed: May 19, 2010
Made just the sauce. YUM! I used 1 1/2 TBS of extra hot horseradish instead of creamy. Perfect. Had this with Old Fashioned Onion rings also from this site. OMG...

Old Fashioned Onion Rings

OMG - as good as everyone says. If you like the onion rings at Sonic...well...look no further. Ate them with the Blooming Onion Dipping Sauce also from this site as suggested by another reviewer. YUM!

White Fruit Cake

Reviewed: Dec. 22, 2008
Yummy! I decided to go ahead and review it even with my changes because it was so forgiving! I forgot my list so had to guess on the candied fruits - ended up not buying enough pineapple or any currants. So I doubled the candied orange peel (to sub for some of the pineapple) and used dried blueberries and extra raisins for the currants. I also used less nuts because I didn't buy enough. I microwaved the fruit with the OJ as a previous reviewer mentioned but I forget to let it cool before adding it to the butter mixture. Didn't seem to make a difference! I also didn't whip the egg whites quite enough...I have a Kitchen Aid and the bowl was already dirty from the butter/sugar/yolk mixture. It still came out great. The flavor is almost like a sugar cookie - but with the dried and candied fruits!

Best of the Best Blueberry Muffins

Reviewed: Apr. 12, 2007
I needed a recipe to use up the leftover buttermilk I had in my fridge and these fit the bill nicely! Used frozen blueberries (tossed w/ flour) w/ no problems at all!

YUMMY! :) Saurkraut is not overwhelming - just adds a nice tang.

Sue's Hot Fudge Sauce

Reviewed: Apr. 17, 2006
Fabulous - even better if you let it set up a bit. I've been eating this w/ a spoon for two days! YUMMY and easy. I think the people that say it has a weird "caramel" taste are using sweetened CONDENSED milk instead of EVAPORATED milk. There is a difference!!

Whole Wheat Pancakes

Reviewed: Mar. 4, 2006
Husband and kids loved them! I used rolled oats and a food processor. Nice light texture. I feel good that they are getting whole grains (even though it is a lot of butter!).

Buttermilk Pancakes II

Reviewed: Oct. 24, 2005
These were good. I took the advice of others and upped the flour by a scant 1/4 cup. I may add a little less than that next time........maybe just a few Tablespoons. Also didn't have buttermilk and did the 1 T lemon juice w/ milk trick.

This was ok - but I prefer just plain banana bread.

Not worth the calories at all. Boring - like a soggy Twinkie - but without the yummy filling.

Easy Pancakes

Reviewed: Oct. 15, 2005
My 4 year old daughter who loves pancakes wouldn't eat them and my husband said Don't EVER make these again. What is that taste?" - the baking soda. WAY too excessive.

Sage Pork Chops

Reviewed: Jul. 19, 2005
Quite yummy and easy! Very flavorful. Next time I will thicken the sauce to make gravy (but right now my husband's diet forbids that......). I reduced the salt, and added sauted onions and garlic (but did use the bullion cubes).

Jam Thumbprints

These were good. I also skipped the nuts/egg white part and put the jam in before I baked them. Rich and buttery - a nice shortbread flavor.

Mayonnaise Cake I

Just ok. Not what I wanted. Not enough chocolate flavor - even though I added extra cocoa powder. It was very moist - just not very sweet or chocolatey.

South Beach Salad

Reviewed: Jul. 19, 2005
My husbands loves this, and I think it's pretty good, too. I just mix up the "marinated" ingredients (artichokes, hearts of palm, peppers, etc) and add the dressing. Then I keep it stored in the fridge and we just add it to our salads each night. It keeps well - we run out of it before it goes bad.

Fruit Salsa with Cinnamon Tortilla Chips

Reviewed: Jun. 23, 2005
This was really good. I did the baked chips option to make it healthier and skipped the nutmeg (just because we are not fans). I told my husband I could make more chips and he said "Why? I'll just spoon it up - this is good!"

German Chocolate Cake

Reviewed: Jun. 20, 2005
This was easy to put together and my husband said it was yummy. I was a little disappointed in the frosting flavor. I wanted more of that "caramel" taste and this just tasted like sweetened condensed milk w/ pecans and coconut (a yummy flavor, but just not what I expect in a German Chocolate Cake). I made the mistake of inverting the cake before frosting it. The recipe does not make enough frosting to cover the sides of the cake. So, if you make this - just leave it in the pan and frost the top only! :) DEFINETELY cook it for much longer than 6 minutes to thicken up the frosting. I probably cooked it closer to 15 minutes (maybe even longer).
