Nonna's Tuscan Salad Dressing

Reviewed: Dec. 15, 2009
I used balsamic vinegar instead of red wine vinegar, and I added more garlic because we are garlic fiends! This is tasty recipe - it worked very well as the base dressing for a pasta salad.

Mexican Whole Wheat Flour Tortillas

Reviewed: Aug. 2, 2009
I'm living in Argentina where store-bought tortillas are not an option! I have made this recipe twice now. The first time I used 1/2 cup of vegetable oil. The taste was good but I felt they were lacking flexibility. The second time I used one cup of vegetable oil, and I thought they turned out perfectly. I use all-purpose flour instead of whole wheat. Thanks for helping me re-create some of my favorite Mexican recipes here in Argentina!

Irish Bannock

Reviewed: Jun. 8, 2009
I added the full cup of buttermilk as well and shaped the sticky dough on the cookie sheet. I also used raisins instead of currants. It turned out great. Thanks for the recipe!

Real Italian Calzones

Reviewed: Jan. 28, 2008
This review is for the dough as I made my own filling (spinach, ricotta and mozzarella). The dough was easy to make and relatively easy to work with. After the calzones came out of the oven they were a bit hard, but they softened up to the right texture after a couple of minutes. A couple exploded on me but nothing too serious. All in all a good recipe.

Hummus III

Reviewed: Jan. 20, 2008
This was my first time making hummus (but not eating it!), and I was very happy with the result. I didn't have tahini available so I left it out, and I tweaked the amount of salt (half the amount), lemon juice (3/4 of the amount), and garlic (doubled). I think this is a good base recipe that can be adjusted according to your personal preferences. I also used cumin in place of paprika. Very good with wheat crackers.

Pesto Sauce

Reviewed: Jan. 17, 2008
This recipe was delicious and received rave reviews! I halved the recipe, added a little lemon juice to preserve the color and add some brightness to the flavor, and I used a bit more cheese than called for (just because I love cheese!). I served this pesto over spaghetti with shrimp, and I was extremely pleased with the result!

Pumpkin Cake I

Reviewed: Dec. 26, 2004
This cake was easy to make and went over well on Christmas Day. The texture is more of a denser, pumpkin bread than a cake but it has very nice flavor. It is reminiscent of a spice cake. I used a homemade cream cheese frosting with this cake. Will make again!
