I am an avid learner in all aspects of my life, so naturally this extends to my passion for cooking. I enjoy watching cooking shows, reading cookbooks and cooking-related magazines, as well as perusing the 'net for new recipes and cooking tips!
As an American living in Argentina, I've learned to prepare foods from scratch that I used to pick up at any old store. Ranch dressing, flour tortillas and soft pretzels are just some of the recipes I've experimented with since moving to South America.
I also enjoy learning about and preparing the cuisine of my adopted home. Argentine food is generally simple and delicious!
My favorite things to cook
I really enjoy baking, so desserts are always at the top of my list. I also like to cook spicy dishes like chili. My greatest pleasure comes from cooking something that brings a smile to the face of the person who winds up eating it. Cooking for me is about taking care of my loved ones and treating them to something special!
My favorite family cooking traditions
I have many fond memories of hours spent in the kitchen with my mom. I learned the basics of cooking from her, and I am carrying on the tradition of some of her best recipes like her macaroni and cheese.
My cooking triumphs
I was really proud of the Buche de Noel cake that I made a couple of years ago. It was the most difficult cake that I have made to date and it turned out great!
My cooking tragedies
I've never set the house on fire or anything like that (thank goodness!). I don't think I've ever suffered anything that qualifies as a tragedy, but I've definitely thrown away some meals that just didn't work out.
