Award Winning Soft Chocolate Chip Cookies

Reviewed: Feb. 7, 2004
These cookies are da bomb! I halved the recipe and it makes plenty. I used vanilla pudding. I also added an extra teaspoon of vanilla and 1/2 tsp of salt. Next time I think I'll try butterscotch pudding. If you have your butter room temperature, they are easily thrown together with just a wooden spoon. Thanks!

Sour Cream Pork Chops

Reviewed: Feb. 23, 2004
We just finished dinner. Nobody here liked this. The gravy never thickened, and it was terribly bland. I used the 2 tbsp flour AND added 4 tbsp additional cornstarch, and it still didn't thicken. The recipe didn't specify whether to use boneless or bone-in pork chops. I used 6 boneless, and there was 10 times the amount of gravy than we needed for the amount of porkchops. It also didn't tell you whether to replace the lid on the crockpot after adding the sour cream. Putting the lid on created condensation and made it watery; keeping the lid off didn't allow the crockpot to get hot enough to thicken the gravy. This was a waste of good pork chops.

Garlic Chicken

Reviewed: Feb. 26, 2004
This was just okay, not great. It was easy to make, but I won't be making it again. I'll stick to my regular chicken cutlet recipe, dip in egg, then bread crumbs mixed with parm cheese and tarragon, top with butter pats and bake.

Eggs Benedict

Reviewed: May 8, 2004
Instead of fussing with the sauce, I used a package of Knorr Hollandaise sauce mix and followed the recipe from there...... It's just as good, and 10 times easier! Is that cheating?

Baked Potato Salad I

Reviewed: Mar. 20, 2005
There was nothing remotely similar between this recipe and potato salad. It was dry and disappointing. I won't make this again.

Broccoli Casserole III

Reviewed: Mar. 20, 2005
This was awful. The cooking temperature was way off, and the casserole was dry and unflavorful. I would never make this one again.

Saltine Toffee Cookies

Reviewed: Dec. 26, 2005
I hate to be the party pooper here, but -- I wish there was a negative stars rating! I can't BELIEVE all the good reviews on these. They taste like sugary saltine crackers with chocolate smeared on them. I can't believe anyone would even THINK about giving these as gifts, when you turn them over you can see the saltines!

Garlic-Lemon Double Stuffed Chicken

Reviewed: Jan. 11, 2006
Absolutely fantastic! The cream cheese was a bit strong tasting, but I love cream cheese, so that didn't bother me in the least. The sauce in the pan after removing the chicken was perfect for pouring onto angel hair pasta, and tossing with parm cheese. I butterflied the breasts, then cut the cheeses in half long ways, so that it wasn't so thick.

To Die For Blueberry Muffins

Reviewed: May 15, 2006
Yes, these were easy, but the recipe was a bit confusing. It says it makes 8 BIG Deli size muffins, but these were just regular sized muffins because of the pan size, so I don't get why they call them Giant muffins. I tried to use my extra-large muffin pan, thinking maybe that's what was meant, but it was only enough dough to make 4 extra large deli muffins... Also, the amount of streusel topping was ridiculous, it was enough for three batches at least. Other than the muffin pan size, they were good and easy, but they were very heavy, and tasted bad the next day, and even that night, they really were tough tasting. I wouldn't make these again, too many other blueberry muffin recipes to try.

Eileen's Meatloaf

Reviewed: Sep. 11, 2006
This was really delicious!! I used half sour cream and half ranch dressing. I removed the foil after an hour, and I put a mixture of cocktail sauce and ketchup on the top and baked for an additional half hour uncovered. WOW -- The cocktail sauce REALLY gave it a delicious zing. Everyone loved this. Thanks!

Burnt Butter Rice

Reviewed: Nov. 20, 2006
This was just okay, and I had such high hopes :-( I added some green onions for color, but the browned butter just didn't add much to it except calories and fat. My mom always fried our rice in butter after she prepared it the usual way, and I prefer that way to this.

House Fried Rice

Reviewed: Feb. 11, 2007
This was really excellent, and I've made quite a bit of fried rice in my day :-) I didn't have chicken so I doubled the shrimp, and I left out the green pepper and added more celery. It was delicious. I made the rice about an hour before I started the frying, and put it into the freezer on a big plate to cool off. I drizzled it with Sesame oil before serving for a little extra flavor. This made it perfect. Loved this recipe. Thanks!

Long Island Iced Tea

Reviewed: Sep. 9, 2007
These were grrrrrrrr8. I did mix equal parts of all four liquors, to make it easier to make a big batch. I also added a splash of sour mix in too for more froth when shaking. I multipled the whole recipe by 4 and made a pitcher, leaving the cola out. Then as my guests needed on, I used a cocktail shaker and shook the 6 ounces of "tea" mix to 2 ounces of cola with crushed ice, shook and served. I do have a touch of a hangover today :-)

Miss Betty's Super Quick Dinner Rolls

really good. I add lots of shredded sharp cheese to zip them up. They aren't going to be my favorite biscuit or roll by any means, but they are a good easy addition to dinner when you need something fast. Thanks!

A Simply Perfect Roast Turkey

Reviewed: Nov. 23, 2008
I was getting ready to print this recipe for the third year in a row and realized I hadn't reviewed it yet. I've been making turkeys for 30 years now, and this is my favorite go-to recipe. It's easy, doesn't require a lot of fuss, and the turkey comes out fantastic. Perfect for Thanksgiving. I also love keeping a turkey in my freezer, then when we have a big snowfall coming, defrost the night before and make a big ol' turkey dinner.
