Slow Cooker Chicken Pot Pie Stew

Reviewed: May 21, 2014
Loved it. My rating is based on it tasting the way I 'think' it should. Very easy to make. My changes were: I used 1/6 of the recommended bullion, 1/2 of the recommended pepper. Replaced the garlic salt with garlic powder. Omitted the celery salt. I added about twice the amount of recommended baby carrots and frozen veggies.

Szechwan Shrimp

Reviewed: Mar. 31, 2014
Very happy with this dish. I used about a tbls of fresh ginger instead of powder. Also used fresh shrimp instead of cooked. I just cooked them in the Olive Oil with the onions, garlic and ginger till translucent. Also added some frozen veggies.

Meat-Lover's Slow Cooker Spaghetti Sauce

Reviewed: Mar. 13, 2014
Loved this dish and have made it several times. I think the entire 29oz can of tomato sauce was more than necessary and yields a very 'liquidy' sauce. So I wound up using half the can, and still strained some of the more 'watery' liquid in the sauce for a chunkier sauce. I also used 4 fresh garlic cloves INSTEAD of the garlic powder. Also I think for the next time, I will use half the sugar as well. But other than that, it was delicious!

Spicy Slow-Cooked Chili

Reviewed: Mar. 10, 2014
I've made this chili at least a half-dozen times. Recently though, I substituted IN ground lamb for the ground beef. It was even better.

Camarones al Ajillo (Garlic Shrimp)

Reviewed: Mar. 10, 2014
I used a whole red pepper for this recipe. My garlic I minced. Also I used cooked shrimp, so I added them in at the same time as the tomato sauce so they didn't get over cooked. Other than that, left it as is and this dish was AMAZING!!!

Spaghetti Squash I

Reviewed: Mar. 3, 2014
Very Good Dish. It was relatively simple to make. I cooked my squash for about 50 minutes, it came out super easy. I personally do not like Black Olives, so I kept picking them out, but luckily I didn't use many. I also used Olive Tomatoes in halves. Even though this dish was very filling, I think next time, I'll add shrimp to it!

Authentic Bangladeshi Beef Curry

Reviewed: Feb. 26, 2014
I was BLOWN AWAY with this dish-SLOW COOKER VERSION! I cracked the cardamon husks to expose the seeds, and placed them with the cinnamon and cloves into a garlic package for easy removal at the end. I couldn't find ginger paste, so I added about a tbsp of freshly minced ginger root with a few drops of Olive oil. I also couldn't find chile peppers so I used 2 green Serrano peppers. I think I have a decent tolerance for spice, and this was just about the right amount of heat for me. Served with basmati and sweet-cornbread. It was DELICIOUS!!!!

Slow-Cooker Pepper Steak

Reviewed: Feb. 21, 2014
I LOVED this recipe. For my dish, I replaced the powdered garlic with 4 cloves of fresh garlic. I minced my garlic and sauted with 2 tbls of Butter. I browned the meat in the garlic/butter sauce. I used 1 tbls of Soy, and 3 tbls of Worchester. I didn't add any salt. I used a 1 green, 1 red and 1 orange bell pepper added 1 hour before finished. Next time I will use 4 peppers. I also added 1tsp of crushed red pepper for some kick. I wound up using 3 tbls of cornstarch and substituted the bullion cube and water for one 10oz can of beef broth. This dish was delicious, it will definitely go in my rotation. I served with Basmati Rice and sweet cornbread.

Slow Cooker Cilantro Lime Chicken

Reviewed: Feb. 21, 2014
I made this as per the instructions. I decided to use the meat to make tostadas. I thought this was just ok. It was decent, but I wasn't blown away.

Slow Cooker Latin Chicken

Reviewed: Feb. 21, 2014
I don't know if I prepared it incorrectly, or if I just didn't get the dish. I didn't like the taste of it at all. I think it's the all-spice that just ruined it for me.

Slow Cooker Butter Chicken

Reviewed: Feb. 14, 2014
So I've made this twice. As suggested, I added 1/2 tsp of Chilip, and 1 tsp of dried fenugreek. I cracked the shells of the cardomon, and toasted in a pan with the fenu. I put the cardomon and fenu in a garlic net for easy removal at the end. Added 1 tsp of cayenne, and 1 tsp of red pepper flakes, and 2 tsp of salt. I used 2 lbs of chicken breasts cut into chunks, instead of thighs. I skipped the olive oil and just used 3tbls of grass-fed butter. Added the yogurt in the last 30 mins of cooking. With those changes, I am changing my prior rating of 4 to 5 stars, it was delicious.

Bourbon Whiskey BBQ Sauce

Reviewed: Feb. 12, 2014
I really liked this sauce. I didn't mind the chunks in the sauce like some people. It has a nice tart and sweetness to it. Next time, I might put just a tad less vinegar in it though.

Slow Cooker Barbeque

Reviewed: Feb. 12, 2014
This was just ok. I used the Bourboun-Whiskey BBQ Sauce from this site. The sauce was delicious, but the meat was just ok. I used a round-eye roast as suggested. Also, I didn't shred my beef as I wanted bigger slices. It could have been something I did wrong, but I just wasn't crazy about it.

Colleen's Slow Cooker Jambalaya

Reviewed: Feb. 8, 2014
I LOVED this recipe. It was easy, and really tasty. I served over white rice and made the recipe as-is. As others say, probably more of a gumbo, but who cares, it was really good!

Laura's Quick Slow Cooker Turkey Chili

Reviewed: Feb. 8, 2014
I made this chili as per the recipe. Next time I would like to try to substitute diced tomatoes totally for the tomato soup, not crazy about the taste it adds to it. Also, I'm not sure if it's just because we're using turkey instead of ground beef, but it lacks a bit of flavor. Also, this chili was so much better tasting after sitting in the fridge for a day or so. Although I generally liked the chili, I will opt for a recipe with ground beef next time.
