About this Cook
I'm 29 and have been cooking since I was 20. My husband and I do not have children yet, but we have two Shih Tzus and a cat that we consider our babies right now. My main hobby would probably be fitness and I like cooking for a healthy lifestyle as well as entertaining
My favorite things to cook
I love to try new recipes, but I mostly go for low-fat ones. I always like new marinades for grilling and appetizer recipes as we entertain a lot.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My parents didn't have a lot of time to cook when we were children and teenagers. However, I remember fondly my Mom's chili and my Dad's homemade pizzas.
My cooking triumphs
My husband and I hosted a Thanksgiving dinner for 20 of our friends and I cooked the turkey and mashed potatoes. I was a nervous wreck about how my 24 lb turkey would turn out, as it was my first time making one. I brined it before roasting and my friends raved about it. They told me it was the best turkey they'd had!
My cooking tragedies
There have been a few recipes that I've made that haven't gone over well at parties, but I think it's all about living and learning. My husband will eat about anything, so when he says something is just okay, I'll know to not make it again or try to improve.

Chicken and Turkey Marinade
I doubled the recipe and marinated two whole chickens overnight. I even forgot to turn the bag, and they turned out delicious after roasting. My husband just raved about it. I will definitely be using this again, maybe for Thanksgiving.

No Sour Cream Beef Stroganoff
I thought this was good, not great. I did use low-fat, lower salt cream of mushroom soup. I used 2 lbs. of ground beef, two cans of the soup, a whole 10 oz can of beef broth and 3/4 cup of white wine. I thought it needed some more spice, so I put about a 1 teas of dried thyme in it. However, my husband loved it, so I will make it again. I think I will try red wine next time, perhaps that will go even better with the beef.

Robin's Sweet and Spicy Black Beans
I made this for a barbeque and got raves from my friends. They still request that I make these again! Next time I will try brown sugar instead of white sugar.
