About this Cook
I am 34 and have been cooking since I was 6. I started out just helping my grandmother and mother in the kitchen.
My favorite things to cook
My favorite food is chicken and you can do so many things with it. I love spicy food and things with alot of flavor.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Holiday cooking in our family has always been a huge deal. From Thanksgiving to Easter to Christmas; each holiday includes so much great food!
My cooking triumphs
No matter what picnic I go to, I am always asked to bring my sausage and peppers and my Bar-B-Q chicken. I don't have the recipes written down for either of these yet; I make them from memory. Once I get these written down, I plan on posting them.
My cooking tragedies
I haven't really made anything that was that bad yet.

Award Winning Soft Chocolate Chip Cookies
I make these every year but this year I made the reccomended changes of baking powder instead baking soda, doubling the vanilla and adding a little salt and they came out even better.

Crumb Topping for Pies
Mmmm...I used this on top of my cherry pie and it was the perfect topping. Buttery and sweet.

Southern Grilled Barbecued Ribs
This recipe was good but I had to change several things. I used country style spareribs so I doubled the cooking time. The sauce tasted too much like vinegar after simmering for a half hour, so I added more hot sauce, more brown sugar and honey. I also added seasonings to give it spicier taste. I grilled the ribs on an indoor grill and just long enough to get grill marks. After all the changes, it was much better. If I used this recipe again, I would definitely cut down on the amount of vinegar.
