Shortbread Cookies IV

Reviewed: Oct. 24, 2009
Use superfine sugar and you won't get any grittiness, it is not from the rice flour like some other reviewers assume, that is why you use rice flour to make them more light and smooth. You can make superfine sugar by putting it in a proccesor.

Use rice flour!! Also your butter bits need to be cold when you mix it into the batter.

Brownie Mix in a Jar II

Reviewed: Feb. 11, 2005
I have never made brownies from scratch, and I will not be making them any other way from now on. Everone loved them. Nice and fudgy but not overly sweet or rich. I did take others suggestions and used 1 cup of butter, 2 cups of sugar, would have been too sweet with more than that, half a cup of chocolate chips,1 tsp of vailla,3 eggs and only 1/2 cup of pecans. I also put the batter in an 8x8 pyrex dish so they would be thicker and fudgier, but it added about 15 minutes onto the time. Love it and so did everyone else. much easier to make than i thought, barely any cleanup, and stuff you already have on hand. Thanks for the great recipe!!

Strawberry Tiramisu for Two

Reviewed: Feb. 11, 2005
I made this for a dinner guest and everyone was basically licking their plates. I did double the recipe, and it was enough for 4 people with leftovers. Not to sweet and very light and refreshing, nice change....even my kids liked it a couple days later as leftover dessert. Definately a keeper.

All I can say is...WONDERFUL. I doubled the recipe and tried it out on a dinner guest, big hit. Nice change from your everday run of the mill tacos. i was skeptical, but pleasantly surprised. This will definately be a recipe I use often. My roomate doesnt even like lime and she loved them. I added avacado and sour cream to the tacos...Delish!!

Bananas Foster II

Reviewed: Feb. 11, 2005
FANTASTIC..oh my gosh, just like at a restaurant. I added 99 banana liqour and mmmm mmmm. Everyone loved them, even the people who are not the biggest banana fans. I have become addicted. Great over vanilla ice-cream, I find myself licking the sauce from the pan off my finger, so good. I definately am keeping this recipe close. So easy and very quick, and no mess. Adults, and kids love this...perfect for a dinner party...A+A+

Shredded Brussels Sprouts

Reviewed: Feb. 11, 2005
I have to say, I have never had brussel sprouts, nor have my kids, but I wanted something different at the holiday table, so I searched for a brussel sprout recipe that had a good rating, and I definately found it in this recipe. Not only were my kids asking for more, but people who don't even like brussel sprouts. It is a little bit of work, but worth it, I will definatly be making this again, I have already been asked for the recipe...pretty good for brussel sprouts. Thanks for making the first experience a good one for me and my kids and offering a different version for the people who have had bad experiences with them in the past..hehehe.This is the only way I will make them from now on...tons of flavor.

Hazelnut-Mushroom Pilaf

Reviewed: Feb. 11, 2005
This was very good, healthier than your average rice, or at least you feel healthier eating it. My roomate liked it very much, just the way it is, I added salt to mine but other than that, very good.

Awesome Sausage, Apple and Cranberry Stuffing

Reviewed: Feb. 11, 2005
I am not a big cranberry fan, but I have to admit everyone loved this recipe, including people who don't like stuffing or cranberries. I made this on Thanksgiving and then on Christmas due to the requests. I have never made homemade stuffing from scratch and I have to say I was not the only one skeptical, but I was pleasantly surprised. It not only tasted good but looks great on the table. Much better than your boring, everyday stuffing.I did leave out the liver, not a fan. I will definately be making this on the special holidays. I do have to say I needed to use more bread than called for, other than that...FANTASTIC!!

Honey Glazed Ham

Reviewed: Feb. 11, 2005
I made this for Christmas dinner and I too cut the recipe in half, used ground cloves, and substituted the corn syrup for brown sugar, and it was the best homemade ham i have ever had. I used a spiral cut ham. There was barely any leftovers so i went to the store to buy another one and make again just to have leftovers. I will be getting rid of my old ham recipe. This will definately be a recipe that I hand down to my kids and the only ham I will ever make on holidays, everyone loved it and couldnt stop grabbing a piece as they walked by it all evening. Thanks for a great recipe.

Honey Baked Chicken II

Reviewed: Dec. 29, 2004
This was very tasty, I used deli dijon mustard instead because I was worried the prepared mustard would make it to "mustardy", used chicken thighs and I baked it at 400 for a little over an hour, I turned them once, and there was definately enough sauce. My three kids, partner, and roomate all had seconds and I only have 2 pieces left out of 14, it goes great with jasmine rice and fresh green beans. I will definately be making this again.
