I'm an Army Wife currently living in Germany. I tend to cook more involved dishes when I'm not working (which is often since we move a lot) and quick and easy dishes when I'm working.
My favorite things to cook
Chicken! I'm an ex-vegetarian that now only eats chicken, turkey, and fish and my husband doesn't like fish, so we eat a LOT of chicken :)
My favorite family cooking traditions
Growing up my mom didn't try new things and served traditional meals...meatloaf, pot roast, burgers, spaghetti...stuff that 4 kids would all eat so I like to try new things now.
My cooking triumphs
When it's edible!! I'm becoming a better cook but when we were first married there were many nights that we'd have to order pizza because the meal was so bad! Now the food generally turns out well when I have a recipe to follow. I don't do well improvising.
My cooking tragedies
It took me forever to figure out how to get dumplings right when I made chicken and dumplings. Those were pizza nights :)

Broiled Parmesan-Lemon Tilapia
Followed the recipe almost exactly, except I didn't have any lemons so I left out the zest. I even made my own sazon seasoning, as another reviewer did. Huge hit with my husband and I loved it as well! We'll definitely be having this again!

Chess Cake
I received this recipe from a friend years ago and gets many many compliments and recipe requests when I make it. The base layer is very stiff, not at all like cake batter. I've found it's easier to dive in with my hands to mix it than to try and use a spoon. I cut it into small (small because it's very rich) squares...great for parties!

Celery Stuffing
Exactly what I was looking for! Tastes just like what Grandma makes except that this is an actual recipe, whereas Grandma adds a "little of this and a pinch of that" :) I'll be making this again!
