House Fried Rice

Reviewed: Jul. 10, 2006
I gave this 5 stars because it is a very good base. After reading reviews here is what I did. I cooked the rice & let it cool. I then cooked the onion & garlic in the oil. I added only shrimp, carrot, & peas. Then I mixed the soy sauce in w/ the veggies. I stirred the mix into my cooled rice. I then cooked 3 eggs in the same pan & chopped them up to bite size pieces & mixed them in. I refrigerated the whole deal & just before dinner I heated it all up by frying it so that there was a little crunch. It came out as good as our local chinese place!

Chocolate Bar Fondue

Reviewed: Mar. 24, 2008
I didn't add the coffee because I didn't want it affect the flavor. I also used high end chocolate chips but next time I will use chocolate bars because it tasted a little like melted chocolate chips (not as good). This is a great basic recipe that even first time fonduers like me can make.

Artichoke & Spinach Dip Restaurant Style

Reviewed: Nov. 22, 2009
I had to laugh when I stumbled across this recipe and it's rave reviews. This is basically the same recipe Applebees uses for their Spinach & Artichoke Dip. I worked at one and watch the cooks prep this all the time. Of course it is awesome, everyday hundreds of people order it from us all across the USA. Ironically I was looking for a "fancier" dip recipe but apparently (from the the reviews) this is the way to go. So if you like the Spinach & Artichoke dip from Applebees then this is definitely the recipe for you!

European Fry Sauce

Reviewed: Sep. 22, 2008
A friend of mine serves this sauce with asparagus, I didn't realize it actually had a name. My family calls it green sauce because they will only eat asparagus and artichokes if I make this too. However I don't use the salt, it is great without it.

Apple Chutney

Reviewed: May 5, 2010
My husband and I really enjoyed this. We put it over pork tenderloin and it was a nice sub for the usual applesauce. I only gave it 4 stars because it called for a variety of spices and the only one I could really taste was cinnamon. I reduced the yield to 8 and there was still a huge amount left over.

Spicy Baked Sweet Potato Fries

Reviewed: Oct. 9, 2009
I used actual sweet potatoes which are not orange(those are yams). I sprayed a stoneware cookie sheet with olive oil spray & sprinkled with taco seasoning. Pre-cooked the potatoes in the microwave for 5 min and the sliced uniformly. Laid out in a single layer on the sheet and sprayed with the olive oil and sprinkled them lightly with the seasoning. Baked at 400 for 25 min, then flipped and baked for another 20 min. They were slightly crunchy and pretty good. Next time I will broil them for a couple minutes for extra crispness.

Bok Bok Popovers

Reviewed: Jul. 23, 2009
I chopped the chicken into bite-size pieces, cooked it with a little sesame oil and minced onion. I also added green chilies to the mixture. The first batch I made w/2 triangles but popovers came out huge, more like a hot pocket. I made the rest of the the batch with 1 triangle and they were plenty big. My husband really liked them, I will make this again. It is a little time consuming.

Oat Applesauce Muffins

Reviewed: May 3, 2010
I followed the recipe and then based on other reviews added to it. I added 2tsp. cinnamon as well as used cinnamon applesauce, 1/2tsp nutmeg, 2tsp vanilla and threw in 2 diced up apples. The muffins only took 17 min. to bake and even though I basically filled the cups they barely rose out of the pan. With my modifications they were really good, however I'm pretty sure they wouldn't have been so without the extras.

A Jerky Chicken

Reviewed: Oct. 9, 2009
I marinated the chicken for 4 hours, grilled it, and then tossed it with a green salad. The flavor was good but not very strong. The extra sauce on the top of the chicken is really important if you really want to taste the marinate.

Better than Sex Cake IV

Reviewed: Aug. 26, 2009
I followed the recipe exactly other than leaving off the coconut. Maybe not better than sex but definitely really good. Next time I will try making them in cupcakes. Also I think Cool Whip would actually go better with this recipe than homemade whipped cream and save a step.

Luscious Spinach Artichoke Dip

Reviewed: Mar. 24, 2008
I changed this recipe to make it non-dairy for my family members with milk allergies. I didn't use mayo and instead used more IMO (non-dairy sour cream) and soy cream cheese. I sub. the cheese for soy monterey jack. I also threw everything in the blender to give it a creamy consistency. Then I added a few chunky pieces of artichoke hearts for texture. Everyone LOVED it and even the dairy eaters couldn't tell the difference.

Luscious Slush Punch

Reviewed: Dec. 31, 2006
Everyone at my toddler's b-day party loved this. I used less sugar as suggested and the only thing I will do different next time is break the frozen juice up into smaller chunks so that it doesn't take as long to blend with the sprite.

Homestyle Turkey, the Michigander Way

Reviewed: Dec. 27, 2006
My family loved this! I gave it a 4 because the butter stuffed under the skin of the breast made the meat so moist that everyone thought it was undercooked at first. I will use this recipe again but with less butter.

Clark's Quiche

Reviewed: Dec. 28, 2005
I made this for xmas eve & everyone loved it! i doubled the recipe because i neede 4 quiches & cooked them in 2 pampered chef deep dish pie plates & 2 regular run of the mill pie plates. I didn't have any problems w/ overflow . I also baked everything the night before & reheated the next day & that worked out great. I used fresh crab & shrimp in 1 instead of ham & bacon & it was the best. This recipe will be going into my perment collection!
