Sweet and Sour Sauce II

Reviewed: Dec. 2, 2008
I subsituted half the water for pineapple juice and left out the pineapple chunks. It made a ton of sauce, I only ended up using about a 1/4 of it with 24 crab cheese puffs. A little too sweet and thick, good base recipe but needs some more tweaking to be really good. I made the Crab Rangoon III to go with it, that was an awesome recipe!

Crab Rangoon III

Reviewed: Dec. 2, 2008
I omitted the crab and water chestnuts, added chopped green onion, and doubled the cream cheese and spices. This made enough filling for about 24 puffs, which was only half the package of wonton wrappers. My family loved them including my four year old and they were gone in minutes. I made the Sweet & Sour Sauce II to go with them but they were just fine plain. Will be making again.

Green Chili Stew

Reviewed: Nov. 3, 2008
I added corn, green beans, cilantro, used ground turkey instead of beef. I also used fresh green chilies I roasted. I threw everything in a crockpot for 6 hrs. It was great and very healthy. Even with the 6 large chilies I used it wasnt very spicy next time I might use a little jalapeno to spice it up a little.

Baked French Fries I

Reviewed: Sep. 22, 2008
I cut potatoes into strips and baked them at 425 as other users recommended. They were pretty good, the seasoning wasn't great, I will definitely play around with that next time. The fries never came out crispy, but my family thought they were pretty good.

European Fry Sauce

Reviewed: Sep. 22, 2008
A friend of mine serves this sauce with asparagus, I didn't realize it actually had a name. My family calls it green sauce because they will only eat asparagus and artichokes if I make this too. However I don't use the salt, it is great without it.

Grandmother's Buttermilk Cornbread

Reviewed: Sep. 17, 2008
This was awesome just like everyone said. I doubled the recipe and baked in a 9X13 for 35 min and it came out perfect. I mixed everything in the pot I melted the butter into. I did cut the sugar down by 1/3c. for a double batch just to make it less cake like and more like dinner bread.

Baked Potato Soup

Reviewed: Mar. 24, 2008
This soup was ok, I had to add way more flour for it to thicken at all. Without the cheese and bacon it was pretty boring. I will keep looking for a better recipe.

Garlic Crab Artichoke Dip

Reviewed: Mar. 24, 2008
I modified this a bit. I used 120z of canned crab in order to actually taste it. I used a 1/2 veggie dip seasoning pkt. and it was still way too overpowering. Next time I will add the seasoning last and just to taste. I threw everything in the blender for a smooth consistency and then at the end added some chunks of crab and artichoke hearts for texture. People seemed to really like it but I thought it was just ok.

Luscious Spinach Artichoke Dip

Reviewed: Mar. 24, 2008
I changed this recipe to make it non-dairy for my family members with milk allergies. I didn't use mayo and instead used more IMO (non-dairy sour cream) and soy cream cheese. I sub. the cheese for soy monterey jack. I also threw everything in the blender to give it a creamy consistency. Then I added a few chunky pieces of artichoke hearts for texture. Everyone LOVED it and even the dairy eaters couldn't tell the difference.

Chocolate Bar Fondue

Reviewed: Mar. 24, 2008
I didn't add the coffee because I didn't want it affect the flavor. I also used high end chocolate chips but next time I will use chocolate bars because it tasted a little like melted chocolate chips (not as good). This is a great basic recipe that even first time fonduers like me can make.

Chicken and Broccoli Braid

Reviewed: Feb. 13, 2008
It tasted really good and my family gobbled it up. However I only gave it four stars because it was kind of a pain to make and I ended up making pockets more that a braid.

Luscious Slush Punch

Reviewed: Dec. 31, 2006
Everyone at my toddler's b-day party loved this. I used less sugar as suggested and the only thing I will do different next time is break the frozen juice up into smaller chunks so that it doesn't take as long to blend with the sprite.
