About this Cook
I love to throw parties and cook for everyone. At least once a week I end up feeding someone other than my 4 year old and husband. I am not the worlds greatest cook but I am probably the most capable in my family and am only rivaled by my oldest sister ( I am the youngest of 6).
My favorite things to cook
I am a baker at heart. If it involves an pan and an oven I can make it. My mom once told me I would love chemistry because it is like baking (not really, but I got the idea). I also learned to roll sushi a few years ago and I get constant request to make it.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Every year from my dad's birthday I make him a carrot cake with cream cheese frosting. Also on St. Patrick's Day I make Irish Bread (not soda bread). Both of theses are very old family recipes and I am pretty sure my family would revolt if I didn't produce them when expected.
My cooking triumphs
I mastered clam chowder a few years ago. After many many attempts I finally tweaked a base recipe enough that I have never come across a clam chowder that is even remotely as good.
My cooking tragedies
I failed miserably at making Broccoli Chicken. I am still trying to find a recipe that is at least decently edible. I also cannot make Spanish rice for a variety of reasons.

Thai-Style Peanut Sauce with Honey
I made a few minor changes. I used fresh ground peanut butter with no added sugar or salt. I left out the garlic and I used 2tbs.sesame oil and 1tbs olive oil. I threw it all in the blender and it came out great.

Buzzsaw's BBQ Sauce
This was great. I doubled it, threw it in a crock pot with slices of pork tenderloin, and made some awesome pulled pork.

Apple Chutney
My husband and I really enjoyed this. We put it over pork tenderloin and it was a nice sub for the usual applesauce. I only gave it 4 stars because it called for a variety of spices and the only one I could really taste was cinnamon. I reduced the yield to 8 and there was still a huge amount left over.
