Zesty Slow Cooker Chicken Barbecue

Reviewed: Jan. 9, 2011
We used 4 pounds of fresh chicken breasts, cooked for about 6 hours on low, breaking up the chicken a bit after about 3 hours, and it was perfect! We used Jack Daniels BBQ sauce and ciabatta rolls (the density of the bread is perfect for soaking up the juices without becoming too soggy... the kaiser rolls got way too soggy in comparison.)

Terrific Turkey Chili

Reviewed: Nov. 15, 2009
Very good!! This was my first attempt at homemade bean-less chili. I couldn't find a 14.5 oz can of crushed tomatoes, so I subbed a 14.5 can of diced (drained) and an 8 oz can tomato sauce. I was afraid 3 zucchinis might be too much so I just used 1 but threw in an extra pepper. My pepper flakes are in a grinder - it turned out quite spicy with a whole teaspoon of ground up pepper flakes - but I liked it. I am SO glad I didn't add chili powder before tasting it!!! It would have been way too hot for me. I thought the consistency was just right. I never added water at any time during the cooking.

Big Soft Ginger Cookies

Reviewed: Nov. 15, 2009
A good ginger cookie. I definitely recommend chilling the dough for at least an hour before rolling, I chilled my batch for about 15 mins and it was still very difficult to work with. I also think I flattened out the cookies TOO much - they came out very flat and large...and didn't look as nice as the picture.

Good Old Fashioned Pancakes

Reviewed: Feb. 22, 2009
This recipe deserves 5 stars for being so super fluffy - but I only rated it a 3 because these pancakes seriously lack flavor - even when I added 1/2 teaspoon vanilla, as suggested by other reviewers. But I'm not ready to give up yet! Next time I'll double the sugar and add 1 teaspoon vanilla and hope for better luck!

Teriyaki Pork Tenderloin

Reviewed: Jan. 10, 2009
Like another reviewer, I found this last minute and only marinated for about an hour. The roast came out fantastic - the most tender ever! The flavor is just great too, I love the little bit of sweetness. Even with just 1 hour of marinating, this recipe beats those pre-marinated tenderloins by a mile! Can't wait to try it when it's marinated overnight!!

Easy, Cheesy Tortellini Bake

Reviewed: Aug. 16, 2007
We used 20 oz. fresh pasta, 10 oz. light alfredo sauce (from refrigerated section of store), 5 oz. frozen spinach (half of what recipe called for), added about 3/4 pound of sweet italian sausage, and used just a sprinkling of cheese on top. The amount of sauce was perfect using this combination. The recipe was good...but not better than some of my other pasta recipes (which are much simpler!) The original recipe is just loaded with fat...and even though I made a lot of healthier substitions...it's still pretty unhealthy. So to us...it's not worth making again.

Garlic Chicken

Reviewed: Nov. 5, 2005
This recipe is so simple and my boyfriend really loved it! I essentially doubled the garlic (but by reducing the olive oil by half - I only had 4 small chicken breasts so I didn't need a 1/2 cup of oil) and let it marinate for about 45 minutes or so...and it came out great...moist on the inside, crispy on the outside. I'll definitely make this again! Thanks!

Roasted Pumpkin Seeds

Reviewed: Oct. 29, 2005
These were soooo good! Just the standard pumpkin seed, but that is fine with me! About a cup of raw seeds only took about 25 minutes in my oven...so be careful to watch them so they don't burn! Thanks for sharing!!

American Lasagna

Reviewed: Feb. 6, 2005
Awesome recipe! I make it a little easier and healthier by using an 8-oz package of pre-shredded cheese, rather than using the 16-oz "brick". It is time consuming, but everyone I've served it to loves it!
