Chewy Chocolate Gingerbread Cookies

Reviewed: Nov. 26, 2006
I have made this recipe a couple of times. The first time they turned out AMAZING! Love the combo of chocolate and ginger and the chewiness of the cookie. The 2nd time the flavour was good but not as chewy (was baking at a friends and maybe her oven is different than mine.) Definitely you need to try!

Spiced Pumpkin Seeds

Reviewed: Oct. 29, 2007
Quite tasty! A little more sweet than spicy but that's okay with me. I used a touch of cayenne since I didn't have any tabasco.

Sunflower Oatmeal Cookies

Reviewed: Sep. 7, 2008
Awesome recipe! The sunflower seeds are a delicious and healthy change! I didn't have enough white sugar so I added 1/3 cup of white sugar and 2/3 cup of Splenda with no issues. Also, I flattened a few before they went into the oven and put about 1/2 tsp of jam on them and baked for the recommended time. Delish!!!

Slow Cooker Tapioca Pudding

Reviewed: Sep. 7, 2008
Flavour was good but mine curdled :o( I really wanted this to work because I really like tapioca pudding. It may not have worked because I used up some egg yolks instead of using whole eggs. I will try it again sometime.

Greek Lentil Soup (Fakes)

Reviewed: Sep. 13, 2008
This recipe is alright. The vinegar definitely adds a hit of flavour for serving, but I was hoping for something richer. I'm thinking that using stock (as others have) would make it tastier. **Updated: Aha! The key is to add enough salt and pepper! A can of tomatoes is a good addition too!

Empire Biscuits

Reviewed: Dec. 22, 2008
DELICIOUS! I made these exactly as written and wouldn't change a thing. Just be aware that the icing recipe makes a lot of icing...I think you need less thank half of what is written, you can always make more icing if you need it :o)

Fantastic cookie! One of my absolute favourites. Decorate with a red candied cherry at Christmas and they look like Rudolph's nose :o)

Amazingly Easy Irish Soda Bread

Reviewed: Mar. 22, 2009
Delicious! I halved the recipe and it made 12 biscuits (instead of doing a loaf.) I also added dried cranberries and white chocolate chips to half of the dough and raisins to the other half. Other than that the add ins and making biscuits I made the recipe exactly as written.

To Die For Blueberry Muffins

Reviewed: Apr. 3, 2009
They really are 'to die for'! I made it exactly as written except I used buttermilk instead of regular milk and I added about 1 tsp of vanilla. The cinnamon/sugar topping is a great finishing touch, but as other reviewers have noted, the recipe does make quite a lot of topping. I would suggest cutting the topping ingredients in half.

Taco Seasoning I

Reviewed: May 16, 2009
Excellent! I didn't add the crushed red pepper because my son doesn't like spicy heat, but other than that I followed exactly. This recipes is enough for 1 lb of ground meat.

Butter Chickpea Curry

Reviewed: May 31, 2009
Awesome recipe! I made a couple of variations, but in general followed there recipe to a 't'. I used some cauliflower in place of some of the potatoes and used coconut milk in place of the cream. Other than that I followed 100%. A keeper!

Adrienne's Cucumber Salad

Reviewed: Jun. 24, 2009
Great recipe, exactly what I was looking for. Nice sourness from the vinegar, sweetness from the sugar and crisp, freshness from the cucumber. I didn't have any dill, but I'm sure it would only make it better!

Beef Paprika

Reviewed: Sep. 18, 2009
Excellent recipe! I did mine in the slow cooker on low for 12 hours (yikes!) but it turned out fine. Highly recommended! I didn't use the brown sugar (partyly because I was doing it in the crock pot and didn't want it to burn, partly because I thought the sauce was sweet enough without it.)

Gingerbread Pancakes

Reviewed: Nov. 15, 2009
This recipe is good. I would double the spices next time though. We also added chocolate chips and dried cranberries. Also note that this recipe makes a lot! I scaled it back to serve 6 and ended up with 18 - 5" pancakes! Plenty to freeze and pop in the toaster for a fast breakfast!

Ratatouille

Reviewed: Jan. 9, 2010
Fantastic! I can't decide which veggie I like best because they all work so well in this dish! I threw in 1/2 cup of pesto and with a bit of reckless abandon I threw all of the veggies in together rather than carefully layering as instructed. It all turned out excellent...I don't think it's going to make it until dinner!

Grilled Orange Chicken

Reviewed: Feb. 2, 2010
This is pretty darn tasty! I wanted to use up some chicken and some marmalade and voila, I came upon this recipe. I baked it in the oven because it's February and I live in Canada, 'nuf said. I found the sauce that dripped onto the pan burned easily. Also, the sauce burns easily when you are heating it in the pot. I used sage and rosemary in the glaze and it tasted great.

Chocolate Banana Bread

Reviewed: Jul. 8, 2010
Great recipe! I made it into muffins and substituted coconut oil for margarine and whole wheat pastry flour for the AP flour. They turned out a tiny bit flat, but that may be from the coconut oil.
