Blackberry Cobbler II

Reviewed: Jan. 30, 2012
Amazing! The biscuits came out perfect--crispy on top and not at all soggy. I made it with mixed berries and added a little cinnamon.

No Bake Cookies V

Yum! I used natural PB because it was all I had on hand, and they still set up beautifully. I did increase the oats to 3 1/2 cups at the suggestion of other reviewers. Definitely a keeper!

Best Lemonade Ever

Reviewed: Feb. 16, 2011
Excellent, easy recipe! I used home-grown Meyer lemons, which are a little sweeter than other lemons, so I increased the amount of juice. My family inhaled it!

Butterscotch Sauce II

Reviewed: Jan. 16, 2011
YUM. I added a splash of vanilla and it tastes like a cross between caramel and butterscotch. It's very thin when it cooks, but thickens up to a nice consistency when it cools.

Amish White Bread

Reviewed: Oct. 9, 2009
YUM. This is my go-to recipe when I want a quick easy bread to go with soup. It's delicious as written, but also yummy with 1/2 to 2/3 whole wheat flour instead!

Chocolate Chip Pumpkin Bread

Reviewed: Oct. 9, 2009
Amazing! This has become a family staple over the last few years. I sub applesauce for half the oil to make it lower fat. Don't be tempted to use regular-sized chocolate chips. They sink to the bottom of the bread while baking!

Chicken Stir-Fry

Reviewed: Jul. 20, 2009
Excellent with some tweaking. I replaced the onion with 1 C green onion chopped and added a chopped bell pepper. For the sauce, I replaced the garlic with 3 cloves fresh minced garlic (I love garlic) and added some brown sugar and red pepper flakes. And finally, I threw in two large handfuls of raw peanuts. YUM. Definitely a keeper.

Oatmeal Peanut Butter Cookies

Reviewed: Feb. 27, 2009
Delicious! I made them with all butter, natural peanut butter, old-fashioned oats and 1 C chocolate chips. They came out perfect (not too flat, not too tall) and taste amazing. This one is a keeper!

Caramel for Apples

Reviewed: Sep. 25, 2008
Delicious! Thanks M. O'Brien for expanding the directions. This makes a wonderful old-fashioned caramel perfect for making caramel apples. MUCH better than using premade caramels. This one's a keeper! I was able to cover 10 small-med apples with this amount of caramel, with a couple of Tbsp left over (and it won't go to waste!). NOTE: Use a LARGE pot for this recipe. It more than triples in volume after the butter and cream were added. I ended up having to transfer to another vessel because it was boiling over!

Lemon Mousse Pie

Reviewed: Jun. 20, 2008
The texture is definitely not mousse-like. The gelatin makes it very strange. Also not very sweet. I used fresh lemon juice and it's VERY tart.

Cream Cheese Frosting II

Reviewed: Apr. 30, 2008
Excellent! I too added extra sugar to make it a bit sweeter (thin with 1-2 tsp of milk if it gets too thick). This makes A LOT of frosting. I halved it and it still frosted an entire cake-mix sized batch of cupcakes.

Mother's Pot Roast

Reviewed: Sep. 11, 2007
This tasted terrible. WAY too much onion, and the bay leaves didn't mesh well with the other flavors. The meat came out extremely tough. I didn't even try to make gravy out of the sauce because it tasted so bad.

Ninety Minute Cinnamon Rolls

Reviewed: Dec. 30, 2004
The best cinnamon rolls I have ever had! I mixed the dough with the dough-hook on my kitchen aid and never kneaded it by hand. I had to add about 1/4 c extra flour because the dough was very sticky, but it was also a humid day. I also used butter instead of margarine, and omitted the raisins. I baked them in a 9 x 13 buttered pan and they turned out great. Took a little longer than 30 minutes to double, but continued to rise during baking. I topped them with a powdered sugar icing and they were great! Got rave reviews from my husband and brothers :)
