About this Cook
Married mummy of 4 (20, 16, 7, 4) ; I work full-time so I am very interested in time-saving & organizing our family meals. Two goals goals are: to not feed my family food made in factories and to reduce my monthly food expenditure! It is important for my family to eat a healthy, balanced, and economical diet. I want my kids to enjoy fruits, vegetables, and vegetarian options. I live in a semi-rural setting but work in a city nearby. I love being in nature and the outdoors.
My favorite things to cook
I like canning jam & salsa but do not do it as often as I would like. We love Indian, Mexican, and Asian foods. I need to make more of these dishes at home. This summer I hope to can lots and start a small garden to feed my habit!
My favorite family cooking traditions
Sometimes I make a Mexican New Year's eve dinner with a spicy pork roast, creamy spaghetti, and an apple salad. I make a nice roast ham on Easter even though we don't celebrate the holiday. I make a traditional roast turkey Christmas dinner. I also make mean potato latkes on Hanukkah. I really like feeding my family wholesome food and eating dinner together every night. I also provide healthy lunches for myself, my husband, and oldest son with our leftovers.
My cooking triumphs
I am pretty good at lasagna, soups, date squares, rice cripsy squares, granola, spaghetti with meat sauce, mac and cheese, stews, crock pot meals, casseroles, granola bars, you name it as far as healthy family cooking goes.
My cooking tragedies
A recent cake from this website that turned out liquid in the middle:( I billed it as a pudding cake and all was well.
