These really are the BEST chocolate chip cookies! I love the crispy outsides and chewy middles. I halved the recipe because I was making them just for myself and I'm kind of sorry I did, although it's probably best for my health! I didn't bother to dissolve the baking soda or include the warm water, and I don't think it made a difference. I did add about a teaspoon of molasses because my brown sugar was hard as a rock, but I doubt that impacted the flavor or texture much. Next time I plan to use black walnuts for a more distinct walnut flavor. Other than that, this is now my go-to recipe for chocolate chip cookies!
