Raspberry Oat Bars

Reviewed: Aug. 26, 2014
My mom had made these bars for more than 40 years. A few important things that will help soooo much. First temp is too high, 350 is fine we always used a glass pan. Second she used a little more than half of oat mixture, pressed in the pan and baked for 7 minutes before spreading jam. Third keep jam away from edges when spreading on cooled crust. Last, we kind of dropped small clumps of remaining oat mixture over jam and lightly pressing down. The jam was never completely covered, maybe 80 percent. It made bars look prettier with color coming thru. When Mom was making these for church or a cookout, she trimmed edges all around and served 1 inch by 2 inch bars. Guess who got the edges on those times???? Now I do the same thing. LOL

Creamy Blueberry Pie

Reviewed: Jul. 9, 2010
I thought this pie was good. I was hoping for creamier. Was a little eggy?? I made this just as recipe was written. I can not get over how cooks can rate a recipe when they have made 3 or 4 changes. Hello... that is a new recipe!!!!! I will make this again trying to get a little creamier texture. I tried this from the fridge and then at room temp. Room temp was better for my liking. Again, try and not rate a recipe after " I changed this and this and this"

Egg Custard Pie III

Reviewed: Dec. 24, 2007
OMG! This was better than I expected. I read reviews and knew I had to change the serving size because I had a deep dish crust. Made it 12 instead of 8. I had no milk so I used half and half instead. Also no nutmeg so I used cinnamon. I cooked at 350 degrees for the same amount of time about 55 minutes. It made such an unusual crust on the top. Fantastic! Im making one today for Xmas but with coconut. The half and half is what made it.
