I left Hawaii in 1995-96. Visited once in 2001. Hopefully I will return again soon. My husband was born and raised in Brooklyn. My children who were born and raised now in Brooklyn are used to the atmosphere/environment; as for me, I am still trying to get used to the change of everything from the time zone to the seasons. I am like a half-planted plant my roots are not used to the ground.
My favorite things to cook
I am learning to cook the various dishes from spanish-puerto rican dishes. I love baking, I learned to bake butter cookies to the new york style cheesecake down to the homemade pumpkin pie including crust.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Making and baking cookies. Ready for Santa or anyone who comes to visit.
My cooking triumphs
When I learned to make pasteles for the first time and all by myself, it was a whole lot of work; but it was worth it, I got to eat it them and I don't make your thin ones, I pack them BIG!!!
My cooking tragedies
When I lost all my cook books/supplies during moving from one place to another and I had forgotten a recipe or two that my kids wanted to make and bring to school. I dared not to try and just gone to the store and purchase the goodies; although, I prefer to make them than buy.
