Spaghetti Pie II

Reviewed: May 28, 2007
This turned out perfect. It's one of those can't-mess-it-up dishes. I didn't have all the ingredients on hand, so I just used spaghetti sauce from a jar and omitted the green peppers. Quick, easy, and fuss-free. Will surely make again.

Meatball Sandwich

Reviewed: Jan. 14, 2007
Fantastic. I doubled the recipe for a football party. I used Italian flavored bread crumbs, and also just bought regular sandwich rolls from the bakery section of the supermarket. Everyone loved these.

Blonde Brownies I

Reviewed: Oct. 24, 2006
Excellent. I have been looking for a good recipe for "blondies" for a long time! Like many reviewers, I doubled the recipe and baked it in a 9x13 inch pan. I also left out the nuts at mixed the chocolate chips right into the batter- would definitely recommend doing this! BUT, do NOT store in the refrigerator!! They were so great at first but got ruined when I put them in the refrigerator. They got really hard, like little bricks! Oh well, I'll just have to make them again! I'm sure no one will complain about that...

Peanut Blossoms II

Reviewed: Oct. 17, 2006
Fantastic recipe! I have been looking for a good recipe for this kind of cookie for a long time... this is it!! Followed the directions exactly, every batch came out perfectly. The only slight change was the baking time, probably due to differences in ovens- 9 minutes was all they needed in mine.

David's Yellow Cake

Reviewed: Jul. 8, 2006
Fantastic and so easy! The best part is that the ingredients are generally on hand in the kitchen, so no special trips to the grocery store! I took the advice of another reviewer and used 4 whole eggs (rather than 8 yolks). I also did not have 8 inch cake pans, only 9 inch. These worked just fine, but may have been why I had to very slightly adjust the baking time- the cakes were done in 20 minutes. Came out wonderfully- I've been looking for a classic yellow cake recipe to keep in my cookbook... this is the one I'll be using from now on! Thanks!

Baked Ziti I

Reviewed: Feb. 22, 2006
This came out beautifully, and it was SO easy. I used low fat ground turkey because we don't eat red meat, and the substitution worked just fine. But be advised: this makes a HUGE amount of food!! We had to freeze over half of it. This would be a great, easy dish to make for lots of company.

Easy Sugar Cookies

Reviewed: Nov. 13, 2005
I followed the recipe exactly, and just had one problem with it. Putting rounded teaspoonfuls on the cookie sheets does not work. The cookies did not spread out at ALL, so what I was left with was tiny little balls of baked sugar cookie mix. For the next batch, I used a much larger amount of dough and flattened them out so they were in the shape of a cookie even before baking. This worked like a charm. Other than that, the recipe itself makes wonderful cookies! They turn out perfectly- they cook evenly, look good enough for company, taste great, and absolutely NO sticking to the pan or falling apart!!

Best Ever Chuck Wagon Chili

Reviewed: Oct. 20, 2005
This turned out great... BUT there should be a warning in the recipe for us beginners- do not slice habanero peppers with your bare hands!! I still can't eat the next morning with my hands- my lips are burning off if I touch them. Washing with soap and water will NOT help. Best bet- wear gloves.

Chocolate Chip Pumpkin Bread

Reviewed: Oct. 19, 2005
I have always had bad luck with breads- this is the first one I've had success with!! Turned out PERFECT. I made one loaf of bread, 18 muffins, and then spread the remaining batter in an 8 by 8 pan and baked it for 20 mins, and called it pumpkin brownies. Thank you for a wonderful and extremely versatile recipe!!

Oatmeal Banana Nut Bread

Reviewed: Oct. 9, 2005
I followed others' suggestions to bake this at 300 instead of 350... worked out great. The only problem I had was that I made a bit too much batter, so the sides started to get overdone but the very top was still a bit too raw. Next time I'll just make sure I don't fill the loaf pan so full. But overall it turned out great and my fiance loved it. Will definitely make again!

Garlic Oven Potatoes

Reviewed: Sep. 15, 2005
These were a bit salty. Still tasted great, but if you don't like salty things I'd use a bit less garlic salt in the mixture. Also, these were done after about 20 minutes... maybe I just cut mine thinner than recommended, but if I had left them in the entire time they would have burned.

Prize-Winning Meatloaf

Reviewed: Sep. 15, 2005
This turned out fabulous. My fiance loved it. I substituted lean ground turkey because we don't eat read meat, and it worked perfectly. (I also used a packet of onion soup mix instead of chopped onion as another reviewer suggested.) The cooking time was exactly right on. Easy to prepare and impossible to mess up... I'd recommend this recipe to everyone.

White Chili

Reviewed: Aug. 14, 2005
I followed the recipe exactly, but this turned out really thin and watery. However, after my fiance got over his inital apprehension at the way it looked, he tried it and said that it tasted really good. I guess that's what really counts anyway- although as someone else said I probably would not serve this to company because it doesn't look very appealing.

Pepperoni Casserole

Reviewed: Dec. 26, 2004
This was SO EASY to make and it turned out perfectly. My fiancee hates olives, though, so I eliminated those. He suggested using mushrooms instead, so I'll have to try that next time. Will definitely be using this recipe again!
