Born, raised and still living in the beautiful Pacific Northwest, I've been cooking for over 35 years. I am a Red Hatter and in my spare time, volunteer at the Seattle/King County Humane Society. I also work full-time as an Administrative Assistant. I am also a member of a small group called, The Dining Divas, (circa 2005). We are four strong and have tried everything from Brazillian to Irish Pubs and Sushi to Native American and Moroccon with Belly Dancing thrown in for good measure. Every month is a different type of cuisine or restaurant.
My favorite things to cook
My favorite thing to cook is anything. I love trying new recipes.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My family lives out of state so we don't have family gatherings now.
My cooking triumphs
Getting my great nieces and great nephew to like Shrimp Coleslaw. Unfortunatly they only like mine, not their mother's or their grandmother's even though they use the exact same ingredients. The children say, "It's not like Aunties!" It's really easy to make, just open a bag of coleslaw, add a bottle of your favorite slaw dressing (or make your own. – I like to use Kraft). Add a can of small Bay Shrimp and PRESTO, you have a slaw that good enough for company or to use at a ‘potluck’ supper.
My cooking tragedies
Making Thanksgiving for my late father-in-law and late step-mother-in-law. The turkey fell off the oven rack to the floor while I was trying to baste it. I picked it up and rinsed it off and put it back into the oven but they didn't even wait to see how it tasted. They decided to take their motorhome and scamper off.
P.S. The turkey turned out great. My husband and I had a lot of turkey leftovers.
