Down Home Macaroni and Cheese

Reviewed: Dec. 26, 2011
Most of the complaints I have seen regard blandness and pastiness. After reading a zillion reviews and making this for a few years, I think we have perfected it. Cheese and noodles don't have much flavor on their own, spices you add will make the difference. I add garlic powder, a dash of cayenne, and a few shakes of Tabasco sauce (enhances flavor) I have followed the advice of previous reviewers regarding whisking constantly. I also use a mix of milk and heavy cream which makes an even creamier sauce. More cheese is a must-and in place of the crackers I sprinkle more cheese on top. My father in law paid this the ultimate compliment by saying this macaroni and cheese tasted just like the kind his grandmother used to make!

Slow Cooker Buffalo Chicken Sandwiches

Reviewed: Nov. 6, 2009
This was great! I made a few small modifications, but not much. I used precooked frozen breasts so I used about 5 of them because they were so small. I used 3/4 of a 12oz bottle of hot buffalo sauce. The butter was added at the beginning instead of the end, and I shredded the chicken about 5 hours in so the meat would soak up more of the sauce. It was fairly spicy, but good! The sauce was not soupy as I used less and let it soak into the meet. My husband gave it a thumbs up! Next time, I am going to add blue cheese crumbles to the sandwich :)

Crab Dip

Reviewed: Feb. 14, 2005
Like just about everyone else, I doctored up this great starter recipe to make a dip my husband doesn't want to share with anyone! I used only 8oz cream cheese, and half an onion sauteed with fresh garlic, 1 cup sour cream, shredded cheddar cheese, old bay, and a healthy dousing of cholula hot sauce. Yummy!
