Beat and Bake Orange Cake

Reviewed: Sep. 1, 2014
In the oven right now. It doesn't smells very orangey and the look of the cake is quite pale compared to the photo. It may be on me because I don't have that much grated orange zest, but I did put in 150ml of OJ. Will see how it tastes.

If needed more garlic taste, add in minced fresh garlic to garnish, lightly fried in butter

Chantal's New York Cheesecake

Reviewed: Jul. 5, 2014
Although the taste is excellent but a bit creamy for our taste, I could not in good conscience give it five stars because the batter is way off ratio. As another reviewer said, there is enough for two 9-inch cake. The temperature is also too hot. At 150C, my cake still burnt a bit. It will probably be badly burnt if I went with the recommended temperature of 175C. For people who want a cheesecake not that moist, I suggest at least doubling the flour. Oh, and I cut the sugar to 120g instead of the 300g called for. It felt too excessive and may cover the cheese taste.

Quick and Easy Pizza Crust

Great and easy. Just a tad too flour-y for me. And quite difficult to roll out.

Best Brownies

Good taste, but too sweet. When I make it again I'd cut the sugar by half at least.

Basic Flaky Pie Crust

Reviewed: May 23, 2014
Taste is great. Made it for a chicken and mushroom pie. One word of caution: I did it according to recipe to 'fill it and bake'. Not the best advice. While the upper pastry is cooked, the bottom part remained uncooked even after I returned it to the oven. I will pre-bake the bottom part next time before adding the filling. One star shaved off for the uncooked bottom part.

Fluffy Two Step Cheesecake I

Reviewed: Apr. 26, 2014
seems to be good, waiting to try it after refrigerating it... though i did regret doubling the sugar as suggested, a bit too sweet. one star knocked off because the cream cheese is very difficult to beat without water and with water it is a bit too watery. UPDATE: I had the cheesecake i made for dessert and it is absolutely great! My sister said that it taste like her birthday cake we got her earlier this year from a nearby bakery! Downside: it is too sweet especially if you have diabetic parents and it is hereditary. So I am going to cut the sugar by 1/3 next time. Also, no more sugar in the crust! Btw, I am a first time baker, so this recipe is definitely one for first-timers ! :-)
