Impossible Buttermilk Pie

I would agree that sugar can be too high; I put in a cup and a third and it was still really sweet. I normally reduce sugar in all of my recipes, especially baking, so take that in consideration! A whole lot of subs on this one; I made my own baking mix for the 1/2 cup of bisquick called for : 6 and 1/2 TBSP Flour, 5/8 tsp Baking Powder, 1/4 teas Salt and 1 TBSP shortning. I combined all of this in my mini food processor and combined until it resmembled corse meal. The other sub I haven't seen anyone mention w/ the buttermilk is Buttermilk powder I use for baking. (saves on fat and lactose!) the packaging for the buttermilk powder says to add powder when combining dry ingrediants and then when it asks for liquid buttermilk add that amount of water. (For 1 cup of buttermilk that breaks down to 4 TBSP buttermilk powder and 1 cup of water) I added the buttermilk powder with the sugar and baking mix and fully combined before adding the liquids. The last little bit of change I had to do; after the thirty minutes the pie was still soup so I kept it in for another twenty minutes until it was golden brown and somewhat solid. Next time I may use a little bit more of the baking mix. TURNED OUT LOVELY - this is going to be a staple in our household!!

Fudgy Brownies I

Fairly good, although if you want closer to store bough add chocolate chips or canned icing. This is very oven-sensative which is why I think there are so many opposing reviews. My brownies were done at 25 minutes, and they came out quite fudgey. I'm going to make it again with scalded milk instead of boiling water to see if it gives a little more richness.

Easy Pepper Steak

Alison's Slow Cooker Vegetable Beef Soup

good basic slow cooker soup, I made mine with as little salt/sodium as possible so I added quite a lot more dried herbs/spices to keep it from becoming bland. Freezes really well in a ziplock freezer bag.

Drop Biscuits and Gravy

Really good gravy, buscuits need a master buscuit maker to not make too hard or dry. I'm partial to butermilk buscuits, however, and it's like comparing apples to bananas. fast, easy and delicous

Easy Spinach Casserole

I'm not giving a perfect rating because I changed it a lot, but this was a perfect addition to our holiday spread this year. I ended up dicing up 1/2 of an onion, mushrooms (about 3/4ths of the carton of button mushrooms) and a red pepper. with those additions not only did it look christmas-y, it was FANTASTIC. I made it again for a New Year's Party, and people devoured it. I'm sure it's really really good with just spinach, but I do feel like it would be too much like a dip or spread and not a casserole. Great Starter Recipe!

Best Brownies

fantastic brownies! Mix by hand if you want the fudgey-est, use your mixer if you want cakey brownies. The ultimate instant chocolate fix, so quick so easy and so satisfying. I want to thank the submitter whole heartedly!

Golden Dinner Rolls

Very simple, don't worry about substituting butter for shortning, I did and it turned out great. I made these as part of our big Thanksgiving and now I'm required to bring these for Christmas!

Hamburger Gravy

I added the flour in the last two minutes of browning the burger (with a diced up onion) and this worked out very well because the flour got cooked with all the other aromatic flavors, ensuring there wouldn't be a flour-y taste. Once finished I couldn't help but feel there was a flavor missing, and after adding oregono and garlic, I came upon the celery salt, which was it. In the future I will either add celery in with diced onion while browning up the meat or add celery salt with the flour. I used a few good sized dashes. (plus I've halved the recipe as it's just me and my Marco) With the celery and perhaps even some cilantro I would give this recipe 5 stars.

Beer Biscuits

Very easy recipe to make- As always it's better to check the reviews. I've made this twice; once exactly as the recipe called for, once with more shortning and less salt. When made exactly as the recipe the buscuits come out very dry and tastless. Still a better taste then the biscuits in the fridgerated section, though. Good with a sausage gravy or hamburger gravy. I used a full bodied lager because that is what I had on hand both times, so the biscuits had a very deep flavor. I'm not sure how you'd get them to rise more because both ways they were pretty flat. I added a star for how easy this recipe is.

Mom's Zucchini Bread

So amazing! I used applesauce instead of oil and decreased the sugar about 1/3. I used raw sugar as opposed to white sugar, and so it had a slightly "brown sugary" taste that I wasn't used to from my grandma's recipe, It was delicious and even though it wasn’t spot on, it was fantastic!

Best Chocolate Chip Cookies

Make sure you BARELY brown these cookies as they get hard as a rock if you cook much past that. Of course i love gooey-soft cookies. If you like very very crunchy cookies these are good, try to make them thinner or they will break your teeth the day after!

Tofu Parmigiana

This is a great recipe - It's best if you make pasta to serve alongside and use a lot more sauce to use on your pasta. I think that the texture is more like cheese, and not at all like chicken. i used the freezing technique a lot of people had mentioned and while it came out firmer and looked more like chicken, it was really like fresh mozzarella. which was BRILLIANT (who doesn't love fresh mozzarella in marina sauce?)

Buttery Cinnamon Cake

i don't have a bundt pan, so i just used a rectangle glass pan and didn't worry about taking it out of the pan. drizzled the sauce all over it and it was so good. very satisfing, a bit too buttery for the sauce perhaps, but still good!

Carol's Arroz Con Pollo

it was great! my boyfriend had a fit when he learnt what i was making, his family is from paraguay and he grew up with this recipe, only his mom made it sort of bland and rubbery, he tells me. i used beer and omited the tomatoes, but it was so good!

Beef Stew IV

this is a very basic stew, very easy to make. it tastes what you imagine stew to taste like, sort of bland. i added an extra onion because i love onions, and improvised on the seasonings a bit, added rosemary, thyme, and a bit of smoke flavor, but other than that i stayed true to the recipe. it goes great with a loaf of french bread and some salad.

Spice Sachets for Mulled Cider and Wine

I gave these out to all of my future in-laws for christmas with wine and cider (depending on taste) and a little gift basket, they all loved it, even the four year old boy Sean loved his "spicy juice" :)
