Southern Green Beans

Reviewed: Jul. 5, 2010
What a great recipe! The taste is outstanding. I did a few tweaks, but nothing too different from the original recipe. I used regular balsamic vinegar as I didn't have white. I added a little extra chicken broth and I simmered the beans longer than the recipe instructed because I like my beans softer. I will make this again and again!

Roast Beef and Gravy

Reviewed: Aug. 18, 2010
I added the wine thinking it wouldn't make too much of a difference in the flavor. I was wrong. It was awesome! My hubby said, " I don't know what you put in that gravy, but it is GOOD!" My new slow cooker 'go to' recipe.

Sarah's Applesauce

Reviewed: Sep. 22, 2010
I made this for breakfast this morning, and while we were eating my son said, "Too bad applesauce doesn't taste like this." I said, "but this IS applesauce." He repled, "No, regular applesauce from the store." I then got the chance to explain to him that everything homemade is SO much better than store-bought.

Scalloped Potatoes and Onions

Reviewed: Jun. 24, 2010
Best scalloped potatoes I have ever eaten! I made the recipe as written with the only difference being that I used Vidalia onions. They are my favorite type of onion and currently in season.

Very yummy! This is the rice recipe I have been searching for. However, I think next time I make it I will use orzo instead of fine egg noodles just for looks.

Banana Cake VI

Reviewed: Sep. 30, 2007
Wonderful recipe! Everyone at my father-in-law's birthday party loved this cake. My cake didn't turn out overly dense as others have mentioned in the reviews. I followed the recipe as shown, except I did cut the sugar to 2 cups. Just remember to cream the butter and sugar really well (light & fluffy) and don't skimp on the overall mixing time. It seems like the more air introduced into the batter, the better the results. I did have to bake the cake about 1 hour and 30 minutes at 275 to get the toothpick to come out clean as others have mentioned. I put it in the freezer as directed--a very unusual method, but it seems to work well. Thanks for this great recipe!

Zucchini Bread IV

VERY good recipe for Zucchini Bread. The wonderful smells while it baked enticed my 12-y.o. son to actually taste it! He said, "I don't like zucchini, but I like zucchini bread."
