Great recipe with clear important instructions! These cakes made it just fine to Afghanistan in the summer. Nice and rich.

Snow Flakes

Reviewed: Dec. 19, 2010
VERY tasty! Much better flavor than the average butter cookie. I changed a couple of things to our tastes: used half real butter and half regular shortening, added 1/4 tsp. almond flavoring and omitted cinnamon and orange zest. Sprinkle colored sugar on tops before baking.

Pasta Pascal

Reviewed: Jul. 6, 2010
Very good! I didn't change much except added some white wine, a dash of crushed red peppers and a tiny bit of mint. Also, cubed some "gourmet" seasoned mozzarella and put on it just before serving.

Quite delicious and SO easy! Cured my raspberry chocolate cravings. I'm going to try it with cranberry sauce next time.

Hawaiian Chicken

Not for us - too much tomato flavor that I feel doesn't mix with the sweet stuff.

Great Grandad's Sugar Cookies

Reviewed: Jul. 27, 2009
Very good. You can make them without rolling out, also. Add just enough flour that they will hold their shape a little better. Drop a tablespoon of dough in a bowl of sugar. Roll in a ball and drop on paper lined pan. They bake up nice and puffy with crispy outside and soft, cakey inside. Use half butter with the shortening and add twice the amount of vanilla for richer flavor.

Chocolate Pudding with Meringue

Reviewed: Oct. 29, 2008
Good! Not too sweet, nice texture. Be sure you whip the egg YOLKS only to add to the pudding. I doubled the recipe and it worked out well. Odd to put a towel in the pan, but it seemed to work great. This is especially nice eaten cold with whip creme on top. Thanks for a yummy recipe.

Beer Brisket

Reviewed: Sep. 10, 2008
Easy and tasty! Be sure to add plenty of salt if you like it. I didn't seer it and it tasted great. One addition was mushrooms to the gravy and I used flour instead of cornstarch. Very tender.

French Fried Potatoes

Worked like a charm! Kept the fries lighter and crispier than ordinary frying. Must have been a chemist that figured this one out.

Jamie's Minestrone

Reviewed: Sep. 2, 2008
The reviews are right! This is a great recipe. I also used all chicken broth. Can't resist a few changes, though...used 1/2 and 1/2 crushed tomatoes and tomato sauce, instead of only tomato sauce, replaced zucchini with about 1 cup of yellow squash and no kidney beans. This is one of those great recipes that you can do all kinds of changes to the veggies and make it your own. Thanks for sharing.
