I made this cake because I was out of butter, milk and eggs. It is a perfect pantry staple recipe. My son and I tried it while it was warm and were not impressed. The taste was bland and the texture was not very moist. Per a comment below we covered it up and let it sit all day until after dinner. Sure enough it had a nice chocolate flavor and was very moist. We are not big sweet eaters so we did not put any frosting on the cake and it was perfect. But I can see this being a very versatile cake. You could use it for cupcakes, muffins with chocolate chips and german chocolate cake. Next time I cook it with kids we will do it in a bowl. The pan method was pretty messy, but we all had fun.
