Award Winning Chili

Reviewed: Feb. 22, 2005
Absolutely Awesome! I modified the recipe a bit- I used a rose wine instead of white because of what I had on hand, I used 1 pound of beef, and I added both corn and about 1/4 cup of brown sugar. Sweet and a little spicy. Throw a little green tabasco on top, yum! Easily the best chili I've ever had.

Mini Meatloaves

Reviewed: Apr. 8, 2005
This was really tasty, I thought. And, very easy. The third time I made these, they were even tastier because I used ground chicken instead of beef, and even hid some diced celery in them. It turned out softer than the beef version, but was very popular with my family. I also used a "Mexican" cheese mix instead of just cheddar. I will probably make this with chicken all the time now.

Lentil Soup

Reviewed: Apr. 24, 2005
This soup is great with cornbread! I make a pot on Sunday and eat it all week for lunch. My only addition is some hot sauce while I'm eating it, as it is slightly bland. But, very filling and satisfying!

Barley Bake

Reviewed: Apr. 24, 2005
This is really good. I forgot to buy 2 cans of broth, so I used 1 can broth and 1 can water. Turned out just as tasty.

Butternut Squash Casserole

Reviewed: Apr. 24, 2005
I loved this. My whole family loved this. I modified the recipe to include the ritz cracker topping rather than the cookies. If you like egg custard, you'll love this.

Apricot Lentil Soup

Reviewed: Apr. 25, 2005
This is a nice change from the usual lentil soups. The only changes I made to the recipe were that I added twice as much apricot (and heck, next time I'll triple it) and I also had to add an extra cup of water because it got very thick.

Best Brownies

Very good- although I did have to add a bit of milk to the icing to make it spreadable...

Easy Decadent Truffles

Reviewed: Mar. 7, 2006
I made these with the chocolate/peanut butter mix bag of chips and they were awesome. The plain chocolate ones were a tad boring.

Blueberry Cream Cheese Pound Cake II

Reviewed: May 16, 2006
Very rich! I couldn't find canned blueberries but used a pint of fresh ones sprinkled with sugar instead. I will definitely make again.

Chocolate Cavity Maker Cake

Reviewed: May 16, 2006
The only change I made was using Godiva liqour instead of coffee liqour. I receive many compliments on this cake, although some have commented that it is too rich for them.

Baked Fresh Cherry Pie

Reviewed: Jul. 6, 2006
My first Cherry Pie. Simply awesome. A cherry pitter (tool) was much easier than using a knife to pit each cherry. I will definitely make this again!

Best Ever Pie Crust

Reviewed: Jul. 6, 2006
I used this crust for a cherry pie. I had some trouble with it being too sticky (even with less water), but rolling between wax paper helped a little. I brushed it with a beaten egg and it was beautiful. I will definitely make again.

This was pretty good. I too, reduced the amount of cinnamon in this recipe. I had many compliments.

To Die For Blueberry Muffins

Reviewed: Jul. 6, 2006
Definitely good! The crumb topping makes this awesome. I did only put half as much on, though. One other tip- make sure you use smaller berries. I used berries that were nearly grape sized and that creates some big gaps in the muffins. Still tasted great though!

Strawberry Cake from Scratch

Reviewed: Jul. 6, 2006
This was very moist but not as flavorful as I had hoped. Still, the best strawberry cake I've had yet. I may make again, perhaps with more puree or thicker puree next time.

Butterscotch Brownies III

Reviewed: Oct. 23, 2007
I really like these. I did leave off the icing though- I wanted something that wasn't too overwhelmingly sweet. I have to remove these from my house after I make them, otherwise I'll eat them all in 24-36 hours. No joke!

Baked French Fries I

I cut these small, like traditional fries. I cooked them at 400 for 45 minutes, turning them halfway through.

Caramel Sauce

Was a huge mess to make, but is decent once it's done. Had to keep the heat much lower than the instructions- the first batch burned badly...
