Cheater Pancake Syrup

Reviewed: Apr. 25, 2010
This recipe turned out to be a life saver since I was down to a 1/4 cup of syrup. I did adjust the sugar to 1 1/2 white and 3/4 cup brown. I only had vanilla and I boiled it 8-10 minutes, stirring often, to thicken it. I then added it to my leftover syrup and no one noticed! Then I got brave and made more and added it. Still no one noticed the difference! What an inexpensive and quick alternative!!

Green Tomato Cake

Reviewed: Aug. 13, 2009
I was SHOCKED at how moist this cake was!! I did not have nuts or raisins so I left the larger tomato chunks in and it blew away any zucchini cake I have ever made. I can't wait for next year's crop of tomatoes! AWESOME recipe! One of the best I have ever made!!

Potato Chip Chicken Casserole

Reviewed: Jan. 20, 2009
This is one of my favorite recipes. I add 1/8 cup grated carrots and some parsley for color. I also use kettle cooked black pepper and sea salt potato chips which really enhances the flavor!

Chicken Rotini Stovetop Casserole

Reviewed: Nov. 8, 2008
This recipe is easy and very good. I never have heavy cream so I needed to use milk. Due to timing I needed to put it in the oven to keep warm for dinner. The 15 minutes in the oven evaporated enough of the milk to thicken it and crisped up the top which really was a hit with the kids. I did use an oven safe skillet. I also added one chicken bouillion cube to my milk/ butter mixture for some extra flavor. I have made this 3 times in 2 weeks and it is gone by the second day.

Blueberry Cream Cheese Pound Cake I

Reviewed: Sep. 24, 2008
I used butter cake instead of yellow. My family has inhaled 4 of these cakes in 2 weeks. I also used frozen blueberries which I had to thaw and drain so the cake wouldn't be too wet. This recipe is delicious!

Bob's Habanero Hot Sauce - Liquid Fire

Reviewed: May 8, 2008
This is WONDERFUL!!! I just poured it on left over fish. I used corn syrup since I didn't have molasses, cider vinegar since I didn't have regular and I used a mild honey mustard dipping sauce since there were so many comments about the mustard. This really cut back on the stong mustard taste. I also used 14 peppers, 4 of which I left seeded. VERY SPICY with the addition.I only wish I would have added garlic like some have suggested.

French Crepes

Reviewed: Mar. 12, 2008
This is a great recipe! I have made it 4 times now and the last time I did something a bit different. I did add a tsp. of vanilla, simply because I love vanilla. I mixed it in a blender and refrigerated it for a while. It was a timing issue more than anything as far as the refrigeration goes, but the batter seemed to work better when it was cold for some reason. I do have an old crepe recipe that actually calls for refrigeration before use, so there may be something to it. The rest stayed in the blender for the next day. Once quick spin to remix it and it was set to go. We made homemade whipping cream and used sliced strawberries and chocolate one day and par cooked sliced cinnamon apples and caramel sauce the next. I will omit the vanilla if I ever make dinner crepes.

Sarah's Banana Bread Muffins

Reviewed: Feb. 27, 2008
I have been making these muffins every day for the past 2 weeks since my kids are eating them up as fast as I can make them. I did sneak in about 1/8 cup of oat bran for more fiber and I added 1/2 tsp. of baking powder making them even fluffier. Recently I have added 1/3-1/2 cup cooked quinoa to add protein too.

Mom's Cheesecake

Reviewed: Mar. 7, 2007
This was one of the BEST cheescakes I have ever made. I did alter the crust a bit by using some vanilla wafers with the graham crackers for a richer taste. I also left out the cinnamon and used butter instead of margarine. I topped it with strawberry pie filling. It was so good that my husband asked me where I "bought" the piece that I put in his lunch!

Watergate Cake III

Reviewed: Jan. 17, 2007
This recipe is GREAT. I used nuts, but not coconut. These cakes actually get more moist the longer they sit and are actually better the second or third day.I just made it for the 4th time using funfetti cake and vault as the soda. It really gave it some color and was just as delicious! I recently experimented and changed the flavors too. We made orange and butterscotch changing both the pudding and the pop.

Coriander and Cumin Rubbed Pork Chops

Reviewed: Jan. 2, 2007
I had a pork loin and not chops, so I rubbed the ingredients on the loin, substituting onion powder for garlic since I was out of garlic. I baked it in a covered roaster with some water and 3 beef bouillion cubes in the bottom to make gravy. It was wonderful!

Chicken Enchilada Casserole II

Reviewed: Nov. 10, 2006
This recipe is very good. I used less sour cream and omitted the chicken all together the second time I made it. You do need to let it sit before serving so it can be cut. Also, it is very good the next day even when eaten cold.

Shrimp and Crab Casserole

Reviewed: Mar. 2, 2006
This recipe was great! I did add some parmesan and some garlic after reading the reviews. I also tasted it cold the next day and it was wonderful. I will probably eat the leftovers cold! I may add some parsley next time just for color.

Jay's Signature Pizza Crust

Reviewed: Feb. 22, 2005
Best crust ever! The family LOVED it!I did flavor it with Italian seasoning to add some spice. This crust is very thick though, so it is much better to make 2 large 15 inch pizzas as opposed to one very thick pizza. I make this pizza every week and it comes out perfect everytime on a baking stone!
