About this Cook
Native New Yorker living in Vegas since June 2007. I work a lot of overtime, so my Crock Pot is my best friend! I'm always looking for something new to try.
My favorite things to cook
Anything in my slow cooker! I am still looking for the perfect chili recipe--I will let you know when I get there. I like to bake cake and cookies, but I am not very good at it yet.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Lots of Italian and Italian-inspired dishes. Huge pots of sauce with meatballs, sausage and shredded pork, served over rotini. My family has always made small pasta shells with a "sauce" of softened butter/cream cheese/parmesan cheese and herbs--still a favorite quick dinner of mine.
My cooking triumphs
I consider it a triumph whenever I manage to cook something without burning it. "Blackened" is my middle name!
My cooking tragedies
I used to make a killer apple dessert with a yellow cake crust and yummy crumb/sour cream/pecan topping. It always came out so perfectly. Of course I lost the cookbook that contained the recipe and I don't remember how to make it. My life has not been the same without my delicious apple treat!

Golden Mushroom Pork & Apples
I am giving this recipe two stars instead of one solely because my husband liked/ate it. It had a terrible texture and no discernable flavor. I would not ever make this again. Sorry!

Bacon for the Family or a Crowd
This is my preferred cooking method for bacon, exactly! I got the "recipe" from the back of my Oscar Meyer package though. The bacon always comes out perfect--flat and crisp, but melts in your mouth.

Slow Cooker London Broil
This is an easy meal to prepare, but I really just didn't like it. I found the sauce to be waaaayyy too salty. It didn't have much flavor other than salt. Mine also came out hopelessly burned, but that could have been my fault. I followed the recipe as written; maybe I would try this again with some changes (i.e. low sodium soups?). Thanks for sharing anyway.
